day he is to be absent. It is recagnized, however, that an employee who is to be hospitalized or is <br />recuperating from such hospitalization shall not be required to call in on a daiiy basis. Such <br />employee shall be required to notify the City of the first day of his absence and shall be required <br />to keep the City regularly apprised of his anticipated date of return. <br />Section 18.05 A full-time employee who is absent on sick leave for an entire scheduled work <br />day shall be charged at a maximum of eight (8) hours of sick leave and shall be paid at <br />one-hundred (100%) of their regular rate; unless Section 18.46 D is applied. <br />A full-time employee who is absent for a partion of a sche+duled work day shall be charged the <br />amount of time absent to the nearest minute and shall be paid at one-hundred (100%) of their <br />regular rate; unless Section 18.06 D is agplied. Sick leave may not be paid for any fuil-time <br />employee on his two (2) scheduled day's off, each week; even if be had been scheduled to work <br />overtime. Sick leave may not be used for less than one (1) hour. <br />Section 18.06 A.) If an "Eligible Employee" is absent on sick leave for one, two, or no more <br />than three, occurrence days; for no more than a maximum af twenty-four (24) hours, (re. Each <br />occurrence constitutes one day even if for less than 8 sick leave hours paid) witi?in a calendar <br />year; then that "Eligible Employee" will not be required to submit a doctoes excuse to be paid <br />sick leave, unless the emplayee was off sick due to a Major Illness. The hours paid above are <br />subject to the meeting the criteria as set focth in B. below and to the criteria in Sections 18.15, 18.16, <br />and 25A3. The hours paid above cannot be used by the "Eligible Empioyee" on his last schetluled <br />work day before a vacation and his first scheduled work day after a vacatian; unless <br />prior management approval is given. The hours paid above will also not be applied to the sick <br />leave reduction process as described in D. below. <br />B.) "Eligible Employee" is defined as follows, for purpose of Section A.) <br />above; as those who meet the following requirements: <br />1 year full-time service, minimum of 96 sick leave hours required, prior to payment. <br />2 years full-time service, minimum of 192 sick leave hours required, prior to payment. <br />3 years full-time service, minimum of 288 sick leave hours required, prior to payment. <br />4 years or more full-time service, minimum of 384 sick leave hours required, prior to <br />payment. <br />C.) For those employees who do not meet the above requirements in Section B.) <br />above, which requires a certain sick leave hour balance based on years of full-time service; then they <br />must continue to submit satisfactory praof, (Which may be on employer provided forms); of their <br />iliness such that they were under a doctor's care prior to being paid any sick ieave time. These same <br />employees will be subject to D. below, if applicable. They will also be subject to periodic attendance <br />record reviews if management believes that this employee is developing an attendance problem and <br />are subject to the provisions of other Section 18's that deal with passible abuse. <br />D.) A full-time employee who exceeds sixty (60) hours of paid sick leave time, <br />without a Major Iliness, excluding those hours paid to employees in A. above, for no more than 24 <br />hours and who are eligible according to B. above, will be paid at a rate of seventy-five (75%) of his <br />regular rate rounded to the nearest cent; for those hours above the first sixty (60) and up to one- <br />hundred (100), in a calendaz year. <br />A ful(-time employee who exceeds one-hundred (100) hours of paid sick <br />leave time, without a Major Iliness, excluding those hours paid to employees in A. above, for no <br />more than 24 hours and who ate eligible according to B. above, will be paid at a rate of fifty percent <br />(50%) of his regular rate rounded to the nearest cent; for those hours above the first one-hundred <br />(100), in a calendar year. <br />13 <br />.?a«.,..,.:,.. ,.,9,?,..•?.::.re? . . .
