<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />, <br />ORDINANCE NO. 98-39 [ <br />BY: COUNCILMAN DEAN MCKAY <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RESIDENCY AS A CONDITION OF <br />EMPLOYMENT FOR NON-BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEES. <br />Whereas, non-bargaining unit employees of the City of North Olmsted are <br />currently permitted to reside outside the corporate limits of the City of North Olmsted; <br />and <br />Whereas, Council finds and deternunes that it is in the best interest of the citizens <br />of North Olmsted to require employees of the city to be residents of the city in that city <br />residency ensures shorter emergency response time, loyalty to the community and support <br />for the local tax base, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA A1VI) STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That there is hereby established a residency requirement from the <br />effective date of this ordinance for all non-bargaining unit employees who are employed in <br />the City of North Olmsted, said persons shall become residents of the City of North <br />Olmsted within two years of the date of their hire and sha11 thereafter maintain residency <br />within the city of North Olmsted throughout their ernployment in the City of North <br />Olmsted. <br />Section 2: That all non-bargaining unit employees who reside outside of the City <br />of North Olmsted on the effective date of this ordinance are exempt from its provisions, <br />except that if they change residence, they must immedi.ately move within the corporate <br />limits of the City of North Olmsted and remain a resident for the term of their employment <br />with the City of North Olmsted. <br />Section 3: That each executive officer of the city, who are the Mayor, Director of <br />Law, Director of Finance, Director of Personnel and Administrative Services, Director of <br />Human Resources, Director of Safety and Director of Public Service, may in their <br />discretion waive the provisions of this ordinance for any current or future employee in <br />their respective department subject to the approval of City Council. <br />Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are <br />expressly repealed.
