service. The employee shall notify the Chief of Police a minimum of twelve months prior <br />to the planned retirement date. <br />That portion carried over will be the amount when added to vacation earned in <br />year of retirement equals vacation total for two (2) years. If employee eutends pre- <br />established retirement date that portion of vacation cazried over which excceds amount <br />entitled to wiil be forfeited, unless there is just and reasonable cause established by the <br />individual planning retirement and agreed to by the Chief of Police. <br />10.4. All vacation time sha11 be paid at the regulaz wage rate, except when <br />employee requests vacation credit accumulation. For the purpose of calculating vacation <br />pay, when vacation accumulation is requested by an employee, the wage rate at the time <br />the vacation was requested to be accumulated shall be used to calculate vacation pay. If <br />due to scheduling, vacations cannot be taken subsequent to the year such vacation was <br />earned and are accumulated and taken in the next subsequent year, the rate of vacation <br />pay shall be at the rate of pay during the year such vacation is taken, provided the same is <br />approved by the Department Head. <br />10.5. Vacations must be scheduled with and authorized by the Chief of Police or <br />his designee. Schedules aze to be coordinated so as not to disrupt necessary City service,s <br />or functions of the deparlment. <br />10.6. If an employee is terminated (voluntarily or involuntarily) prior to taking his <br />vacation and has completed one (1) year of employment with the City, he shall receive <br />the prorated portion of any acciued but unused vacation at the time of separation. In case <br />of death of an employee, the unused vacation leave shail be paid to the estate. <br />(13) <br />
