? ..._..?...?.....?. ---,?_. „ <br />N . <br />. • ? ? ? <br />C717 OF NORTS OLilSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 90-160 <br />BY.- MAYOR IDWARD BOYLE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC170N 161.10 OF THE CODIFZED <br />ORDINANCES OF THE C71Y OF NORTH OLMSTID ENTTTLID <br />"AFFIRMATIVE ACI70N PROGRAM" AND DECLARING AN ElWE1?RGENCY <br />WHEREAS, this Council, due to administrative reorganization, as well as a need <br />for monetary threshold revisions, deems it appropriate to amend Codified Ordinance <br />Section 161.10. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SE(:TION 1: That Codified Ordinance Section 161.10 entitled "Affirmative Action <br />Program" which now reads: <br />" 161.10 AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PROGRAM <br />(a) Council hereby formally declares that the City must hire and promote its <br />employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national ongm, age or <br />handicap (except where age or handicap would be an obvious and bona fide <br />obstacle to expected and required job performance), and furthermore must <br />continue to recruit, hire and develop the best qualified persons available for <br />the jobs involved, basing its judgment on job related quahfications. <br />(b) Artificial barriers of personal attitudes and customs cannot be permitted <br />to have effect in matter of employment practices. <br />(c) The City pledges itself to insure that all activities relative to recruitment, <br />hiring and promoting aze undertaken to effect the principle of equal opportu- <br />nity and the only vahd requirements are imposed when promotional opportu- <br />nities exist. Further, all matters related to compensation benefits, transfers, <br />layoffs, recall from layoff and training will be free from any and all discnmi- <br />natory practices. In addition, a11 facilities of the City will be available to all <br />employees on a nondiscriminatory basis. <br />(d) The Director of Public Safety, the Director of Public Service and the <br />Director of Human Resources will have the joint responsibility for the imple- <br />mentation of the City's Affirmative Action Plan.
