t <br />DUES DEDUCTION <br />ARTICLE IV <br />Section 1. Duiā¢ing the term of this Agreement, the Employer <br />shall deduct initiation fees, assessments levied by the NOPBA and <br />the regular monthly NOPBA dues from the wages of those employees <br />who have voluntarily signed dues deduction authorization forms <br />permitting said deductions. <br />No new authorization forms will be required from any <br />employees in the bargaining unit for whom the Employer is cur- <br />rently deducting dues. <br />Section 2. The initiation fees, dues or assessments so <br />deducted shall be in the amounts established by the NOPBA from <br />time to time in accordance with its Constitution and Bylaws. The <br />NOPBA shall certify to the Employer the amounts due and owing <br />from the employees involved. <br />The Employer shall deduct dues, initiation fees or <br />assessments from the first pay in each calendar month. If an <br />employee has no pay due on that pay date such amounts shall be <br />deducted from the next or subsequent pay. <br />Section 4. A check in the amount of the total dues-withheld <br />from these employees authorizing a dues deduction shall be tend- <br />ered to the treasurer of the NOPBA within thirty (30) days from <br />the date of making said deductions. <br />Section 5. All members of the bargaining unit, as iden- <br />tified in Article III of this Agreement, shall either (i) main- <br />tain their membership in the NOPBA, (2) become members of the <br />NOPBA, or (3) pay a service fee to the NOPBA in an amount equiva- <br />lent to the annual dues for membership in the NOPBA, as a condi- <br />tion of employment, all in accordance with Ohio Rev. Code Sec. <br />4117.09. <br />In the event that a service fee is to be charged to a member <br />of the bargaining unit, the employer shall deduct such fee in the <br />same manner as dues are deducted as specified in this Article. <br />PROBATIONARY PERIOD <br />ARTICLE V <br />Section 1. New employees shall be considered to be on <br />probation for a period of one year. During the probationary <br />period, discharge or suspension by the City shall not be subject <br />to the grievance procedure. <br />Section 2. If any employee is discharged or quits during <br />the probationary period described in Section l and is later <br />-2-
