Page 20 <br />ARTICLE XXIV <br />HOURS OF WORK <br />24.1 Beginning-January l, 1990, the basic work week for <br />Employees assigned to platoon duty shall be an average <br />of fifty-two (52) hours. <br />24.2 Employees assigned to Fire Prevention duty shall work a <br />forty (40) hour week. <br />24.3 Twenty-four (24) hour shifts shall commence at 0800 hours <br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE. <br />24.4 In order to facilitate the work week of fifty-two (52) <br />hours effective January 1, 1990, Employ'ees shall be <br />entitled to additional time off with pay, known as <br />Kelley Days. All Kelley Days shall be taken during the <br />year of entitlement, shall not accrue from year to year, <br />and shall be scheduled by the EMPLOYER. <br />24.5 The Employer shall annually provide each employee with a <br />thirteen (13) day cycle schedule commencing on January 1, 1990, <br />and indicate the thirteen (13) day cycles in which the <br />employee Ii?i•S SCHEDULED his Kelley Days. <br />24.6 Should an Employee select a holiday or vacation, or use <br />an accumulated sick day during the thirteen (13) day <br />cycle in which he is entitled to a Kelle; Day, the <br />Employee may reschedule such Kelleq Day subject to <br />normal scheduling considerations. <br />24.7 Should the Fire Chief find it necessary to place an <br />employee on a fortq (40) hour schedule for purposes of <br />training or light duty, the employee shall receive <br />sufficient notice indicating Che beginning and end of <br />such forty (40) hour schedule. <br />24.8 Employees shall have the right to exchange hours when, <br />in the opinion of the Shift Captain, such changes do.? not <br />interfere with Fire Department operations. All such <br />changes are subject to the approval of the Fire Chief or <br />his designee. No overtime shall be allowed and no <br />additional cost is to be incurred by the Emgloyer due to <br />such changes.
