ARTICLE XXIV <br />HOURS GF WORK <br />24.1 BegirLning January 1, 1993, the basic work week for Fmpioyees <br />assigned to platoon duty shall be an average of 51.7 hours. <br />24. Employees assigned to Fire Prevention duty shall work a forty hour <br />week. <br />24.3 'Itwenty-four hour shifts shall commence at 0800 hours in accordance <br />with the Normal Wor1c Schedule. <br />24.4 In order to facilitate the work week of 51.7 hours effective <br />January l, 1993, Fmployees shall be entitled to additional <br />tir,ie off with pay, lnown as Kelley Days. All Kelley Days shall be <br />taken durirg the year of entitlement, shall not accrue from year to <br />year, and shall be scheduled by the Fmployer. <br />24.5 The Fmployer shall annually provide each Fmployee with a thirteen <br />shift cycle schedule cor,unencing on January 1,.1993, and indicate <br />the thirteen shift cycles in which the F,-nployer ha.s scheduled his <br />Kelley Days. <br />? 24.6 To alleviate scheduling problems, Kelley Days shall be taken as <br />? scheduled. Kelley days shall be scheduled by January 1 of. each year, <br />and shall not be rescheduled for any reason without approval of the <br />Fire Chief. <br />24.7 Should the Fire Chief find it necessary to place an Friployee on a <br />forty hour schedule for purposes of training or libht duty, the <br />Enployee shall receive sufficient notice indicating the beginning <br />and end of such forty hour schedule. <br />24.8 Fnployees shall have the right to exchange hours when, in the opinion <br />of the Shift Captain, such changes do not interfere T%Tith Fire <br />Department operations. All such changes are subject to the approval <br />of the Fire Chief or nis designee.
