ARTICLE XXIX <br />EQUIPAIEN?T AND GEAR <br />29.1 The Fr,iployer shall furnish and raintain at no cost to the Fnployee <br />all gloves, helmets, protective clothing and other protective <br />equiprrient necessary to preserve and protect the safety and health of <br />the Enployee as deterMined by the Fire Chief. <br />29.2 .Sn occupational Safety and Health Cor.unittee shall be established and <br />shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Fire Chief. 1'he committee <br />shall include the designated Fire Department safety officer, <br />representatives of Fire Dzpartment management, and three members of <br />the North Olnsted Fire Department, chosen by the Union, who have <br />attained the rank of First Class or higher. The cominittee shall also <br />be perr,iiLted to include other persons, to be appointed by the Fire <br />Chief. <br />29.3 The purpose of this conunittee shall be to cor?duct research, develop <br />recommendations, study, and revizw natters pertaining to occupational <br />safety and health within the Fire Departtrient. <br />29.4 The cormittee shall hola r o¢ularly scheduled meetings and shall be <br />permitted to hold special r.ieetings whenever necessary. Regular <br />meetings shall be held at least once in every six months. Written <br />runutes shall be retained and shall be made available to all <br />Fmployees. <br />29.5 The committee shall make recorsunendations to the Fire Chief on matters <br />concerning the safety and health of depa.rtment members. The Fire <br />Chief shall respond witnin r..nircy aays or within a mutually agreed <br />tir,p- frame. Should a dispute exist with respect to the decision of <br />the Fire Chief regardinb corrective measures, the coruni.ttee may <br />submit those recorIInendations to the Director of Public Safety <br />requesting relief from the Fire Chief's decision. Upon receipt, the <br />Director of Public Safety shall respond within ten days. The <br />decision of the Director of Public Safety may be appealed to the <br />N,ayor or his designee and his decision shall be final. <br />ARTICLE M <br />COrIPEf1SATORY TI'? <br />30.1 rach Ri.ployee shall have the right to convert Overtine hours into <br />Compensatory Time with the approval of the Fire Chief or his <br />designee, on a dollar for dollar basis. <br />-25- <br />___ <br />_ ,?
