- - ;-?, <br />ARTICLE 11: DISTRIBUTION OF OVERTIME <br /> Section 1: The City shall be the sole judge of the <br /> necessity of overtime. All overtime shall be voluntary and an <br /> employee shall have the right to refuse an overtime assiqnment <br /> except for emergencies. An "emergency" is defined as any <br /> impairment to City services or operations which cannot be delayed <br /> until the beqinning of the next regular work day. In non- <br /> emergency situations, the City may require the least senior <br /> qualified employees in the classification who are available, to <br /> perform the overtime work. <br /> Section 2: The City shall endeavor, insofar as it may be <br /> practicable, to make a generally equitable distribution of <br />?- overtime work amonq employees within a classification and <br />, <br /> department who are capable of performing the available work <br /> satisfactorily. Employees who are offered overtime and for any <br /> reason refuse or fail to work, shall be credited with the <br /> overtime as if they had worked, for the purpose of overtime <br /> distribution. An employee who works overtime will be credited <br />_ only with the number of hours he actually worked. An employee <br /> who should have been called for overtime, but was missed, shall <br /> have deducted from his equalization total the number of hours <br /> that were worked on that overtime call. In the event that a <br /> sufficient number of employees are not available within the <br /> classifications for the overtime assignment, qualified employees <br /> from a different classification and/or department shall be <br /> offered the overtime work and the overtime opportunity shall be <br /> distributed as equitably as possible.
