r-,. <br />Ordinance No. 92 -133 <br />Page 8 <br />1. Reject the wastes; <br />2. Require pretreatment to an acceptable condition in accordance with <br />guidelines adopted in the ordinance of this City for discharge into <br />the public sewers; <br />3. Require control aver quantities and rate of discharge; <br />4. Require payment to cover the added cost of handling and treatment of <br />the waste not covered by e.xisting taxes or sewer charges under the <br />provisions of subsection (i) hereof. <br />If the Service Director permits tlze pretreatment or equalization of <br />waste flows, the design and installation of the plants and equipment <br />shall be subject to the review and approval of the City Engineer and <br />subject to the requirements of all applicable codes, ordinances and <br />laws. <br />(e) All food establishments which maintain a kitchen or other facilities for <br />the preparation of food shall be required to have a 1,000 gallon capacity <br />grease trap (grease interceptor). Such grease trap shall be installed at <br />least ten feet froqn the building wherein the food is prepared, and such <br />grease trap shall be cleaned and maintained to the satisfaction of the <br />Service Director, evidence of such cleaning to be exhibited to a member of <br />the Service Department upon request and further grease, oil and sand <br />interceptors shall be provided when, in the opinion of the Service <br />Director, they are necessary for the proper handling of liquid wastes <br />containing grease in excessive amounts, or any flammable wastes, sand and <br />other harmful ingredients, except that such interceptors shall rot be <br />required for private living quarters or dwelling units. A71 interceptors <br />shall be of a type and capacity approved by the Service Director, and <br />shall be located as to be readily accessible for cleanirg and inspection. <br />Alternative size and location conditions may be approved, but anly if in <br />conformance to the Ohio Plumbing Code. <br />Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of impervious materials <br />capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in temperature. They <br />shall be of substantial construction, watertight and equipped with easily <br />removable covers which, when bolted in place, shall be gastight and <br />watertight. <br />Where installed, a11 grease, oil and sand interceptors shall be maintained <br />by the owner, at his expense, in continuously efficient operation at all <br />times. <br />(f) Where preliminary treatment or flow-equalizing facilities are provided for <br />any waters or wastes, they shall be maintained continuously in <br />satisfactory and effective operation by the awner, at his expense, to the <br />approval of the Service Director. <br />(g) Fach person discharging industrial wastes into a public sewer shall <br />construct arxl maintain one or more control manholes or access points to <br />facilitate observation, measurement and sampling of his wastes, including <br />domestic sewage.
