(a) Special circumstances may occur for an employee to make <br />application to the Service Director for a leave of absence; <br />whereby this leave will not effect the employee's senority <br />as stated in Section 14.01. This situation will not be <br />precedent setting for past or future leave of absence <br />requests granted by the city. <br />Section 19.02. Any employee who is required to be away from work due <br />to sickness shall be entitled to use up sick leave which has been <br />accumulated, according to the rates as specified in Sec. 18.05, and Sec. <br />18.06. When an employee has exhausted all accumulated sick leave, then that <br />employee shall be entitled to a sickness leave of absence which shall not <br />exceed ninety (90) days fran the date tha.t said employee has exhausted his <br />accwmilated sick leave. During sa.id ninety (90) day period, said employee, <br />in order to maintain any and all benefits which are paid by the City sha.ll <br />be required to pay the Finance Director, the cost of said benefits in <br />advance on a monthly basis. <br />Section 19.03. After the leave of absence specified in Section 19.01 <br />and 19.02 has terminated, the employee shall report to the General Manager <br />for work. If the enployee fails to do so, the employee shall be terminated. <br />This section shall not affect the application of Worker's Compensation <br />statute. <br />Section 19.04. A full-time enployee shall be granted time off with pay <br />(not to be deducted fran the employee's sick leave) for the purpose of <br />attending the funeral of a member of the Pmployee's family . Each full-time <br />employee shall be entitled to three (3) work days off, if necessary, for <br />attending local funeral services of inembers of his immediate family, or up <br />to five (5) work days off, if necessary, for the out-of-state funeral of a <br />member of the imediate family. Immediate family, for purposes of this <br />section is defined as spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, parent or <br />grandpa.rent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, <br />step-father, step-mother, step-sister, step-brother, step-son, and step- <br />daughter. Zhe Enployer reserves the right to request proof or certification <br />fran the employee prior to payment of the days off as described in this <br />section. <br />-15-
