Page 2
City of North Olmsted
Attn: Mr. Ralph Bohlmann,
Service Director
I. SCOPE OF SERVICES
January 19, 1996
The W.R.E.S. Corporation (AKA The Western Reserve Engineering & Surveying
Company) will perform a comprehensive drainage study of the drainage system which affects
the West Park/Forest Ridge Subdivision.
The analysis will be performed using the Stormwater Management Model (SWMM),
which is a computer model developed by the EPA to analyze closed conduit systems.
The existing system will be input into the model using existing plans of the area. Site
inspections will be made as necessary to verify the components of the system. A 50 year rainfall
frequency will be used to generate the runoff into the system. The volume runoff is dependent
on land use and drainage paths. All tributary areas to the system will be included in the analysis
of the runoff.
Based on the modeling of the storm sewer system, recommendation will be made on how
to improve the system to the point where the system does not surcharge back into the residential
structures from flows from the design storm.
The alternatives which will be evaluated will be:
a) Larger storm sewers to convey the flow
b) Surface detention
c) Underground detention
d) Combination of the above
The DeGroot report will be used as a basis for the study. The recommendations of the
DeGroot report will be used as a starting point only and will be expounded upon.
Construction cost estimates will be developed for the various alternatives so the City of
North Olmsted can evaluate the systems on cost - benefit terms.
The report will include hydraulic grade line profile drawings of the existing and proposed
system. Ten copies of the report will be supplied to the City.
