.? . . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96-106 <br />BY: MAYOR BOYLE AND THE ENTIItE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL <br />AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, NASA's partnership with industry in aeronautics has given this country a <br />position of leadership and a positive balance of trade in the highly competitive civil transport <br />market and aviation research; and <br />WHEREAS, the United States can have a viable space program within a realistic budget <br />that will not hinder other government programs; and <br />WHEREAS, technology gained through the space program benefits the environment, <br />health, medicine, computer technology, consumer/home/recreation activities, public safety, <br />transportation, and many other of our daily activities; and <br />WHEREAS, the de-icing system for small commercial aircraft was developed as NASA as <br />well as the coating for scratch-resistant eye glasses. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor and Council request that local representatives take requisite <br />action to prevent any cuts in NASA's budget. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized to forward certified copies <br />of this Resolution to Senator Gary C. Suhadolnik, Representative Rocco J. Colonna, <br />Representative Steven LaTourette, Congressman Martin Hoke and to surrounding Westshore <br />municipalities.
