339.03 TRAFFIC CODE <br />339.03 MAXIMUM WIDTH, HEIGHT AND LENGTH. <br />No vehicle shall be operated upon the public streets, bridges and culverts within the <br />Municipality, whose width is greater than ninety-six inches, including the load, except <br />motor vehicles of the passenger bus type, operated exclusively within the Municipality, <br />whose width shall not exceed one hundred four inches, and except traction engines whose <br />width shall not exceed one hundred thirty-two inches. No vehicle unladen or with load <br />of a greater height than thirteen feet six inches shall be operated on such streets, bridges <br />and culverts, or of a greater length than thirty-five feet, except the semitrailer of a com- <br />mercial tractor and semitrailer combination which may have a length not to exceed forty <br />feet, also except motor vehicles of the passenger bus type with three or more axles whose <br />length shall not exceed forty feet and except motor vehicles of the passenger bus type, <br />operated exclusively within the Municipality, whose length shall not exceed forty-eight feet. <br />No commercial tractor and semitrailer shall be operated in combination of a greater length <br />than fifty feet, including load, and no other combination of vehicles coupled together. shall <br />be so operated whose total length, including load, shall be greater than sixty feet. In <br />special cases vehicles whose dimensions exceed those prescribed by this section may <br />operate in accordance with rules and regulations promulgated by tho Ohio Director of <br />Highways. <br />This section does not apply to fire engines, fire trucks, or other vehicles or apparatus <br />belonging to any municipal corporation or to the volunteer fire department of any municipal <br />corporation or salvage company organized under the laws of this State or used by such <br />department or company in the discharge of its functions. This section does not apply to <br />vehicles and pole trailers used in the transportation of wooden and metal poles, nor to the <br />transportation of pipes or well-drilling equipment, nor to farm machinery and equipment. <br />(ORC 557? . 05) <br />339.04 OBLIGATION TO USE STATE OR FEDERAL ROUTES. <br />(a) A11 streets and highways leading into the Municipality shall be properly posted <br />warning operators of vehicles used for the transportation of goods or property and exceed- <br />ing weight limits prescribed by this chapter that they must follow State or Federal routes, <br />temporary or permanent. <br />(b) The operator of a vehicle exceeding such weight limits,upon entering the Munici- <br />pality on a street other than a State or Federal route, shall proceed immediately by the <br />shortest way possible, to the nearest State or Federal route leading in the direction in <br />which such vehicle is proceeding, except as otherwise provided in Section 339.02. <br />339.05 WHEEL PROTECTORS. <br />No person shall drive or operate, or cause to be driven or operated, any commercial <br />car, trailer, or semitrailer, used for the transportation of goods or property, the gross <br />weight of which, with Ioad, exceeds three tons, upon the streets, bridges and culverts <br />within this Municipality unless such vehicle is equipped with suitable metal protectors or <br />subatanttal flexible flaps on the rearmost wheels of such vehicle or combination of vehicles <br />to prevent, as far as practicable, the wheels from throwing dirt, water, or other materials <br />on the windshields of following vehicles.. Such protectors or flaps shall have a ground <br />clearance of not more than one fifth of the distance from the center of the rearmost axle <br /> <br />
