339.08 TRAFFIC CODE 42 <br />339.08 LQADS TO BE PROPERLY SECURED. <br />(a) No vehicle shall be driven or moved on any street, sidewalk or other public place <br />unless such vehicle is so constructed or loaded as to prevent any of its load from dropping, <br />sifting, leaking, or otherwise escaping therefrom, except that sand or other substances may <br />be dropped for the purpose of securing traction, or water or other substances may be <br />sprinkled on a roadway in cleaning ar maintaining such roadway. (ORC 4513.31) <br />(b) Any load or portion thereof deposited upon a street, sidewalk or other public place <br />in violation of subsection (a) of this section shall immediately be removed by the operator <br />of such vehicle. <br />(c) No person shall operate a vehicle unless such vehicle is so loaded as to prevent <br />any of its load from shifting or otherwise .unbalancing the vehicle in such a manner as to <br />interfere with the safe operation of such vehicle or become a hazard to other users of the <br />attest . <br />339.09 REMOVAL OF EXCESS LOAD; INFORMATION A5 TO CONTENTS. <br />(a) Any police officer having reason to believe that the weight of a vehicle and its <br />load is unlawful may require the driver of suchvehicle to atop and submit to a weighing <br />of it by means of portable or stationary scales and may require that such vehicle be driven <br />to the nearest public scalps . <br />Whenever such officer upon weighing a vehicle and load determines that the weight <br />is unlawful, he may require the driver to atop the vehicle in a suitable place and remain <br />standing until such portion of the load is removed as is necessary to reduce the gross <br />weight of such vehicle to the limit permitted. (ORC 4513.33) <br />(b) All drivers of vehicles described in this chapter shall be required, upon request <br />by any member of the Police Department, to give full and true information as to the route <br />they aro following and the name of the consignor and consignee and place of delivery or <br />removal and the location of any consignment being hauled or goods being removed, and <br />upon a designation by such police officer of a route to be followed, shall immediately adopt <br />anal ptmsue suoh route. <br />339.10 VEHICLES WITH SPIKES, LUGS AND CHAINS. <br />No person shall operate upon any street any vehicle equipped with cleats, spikes, <br />lugs, chains or similar devices injurious to the roadway except metal or other non-skid <br />contrivances which may be used only while the streets are slippery or covered with <br />ice and snow.
