The "City" <br />hereinabove used refers to the City of North Olmsted. <br />Members of Council, including the President of Council, <br />shall be elected at the regular election in the year 1963 <br />for a term of two years and every second year t«ereafter <br />for a term of two years. All members of Council and the <br />President of Council shall assume office on the first day <br />of January next following their election." <br />"Section 7 of Article IX: General Provisions. <br />After eacc_i recurring 1~ederal Census and within three months <br />after the issuance of the proclamation by the secretary of <br />State, certifying tie population of the City or when there is <br />annexed thereto any territory, the Council shall re-district <br />the City into six (b) wards so as to hive each ward as nearly <br />equal in population as practieabl~e and which shall be bounded <br />by County lines, streets, alleys, arenues, public grounds, <br />canals, water courses, municipal corporate lines, or center <br />lines of platted streets in said ward. <br />If the Council fails to make such subdivision within the <br />time required, it shall then be made by the llirector of <br />Public Service. <br />~~lhere no special provision is made in this Charter gov- <br />erning general, primary or special elections, registration <br />and the conduct of such elections, the provisions of the <br />general law of the State of Ctzio shall control." <br />Section 2: The amendi~~ents set forth in Section 1 hereof shall take <br />effect and be in force iruneda_ately upon adoption and certification by the hoard <br />of Elections and thereupon, existing Section 1 of Article IV and existing <br />Section 7 of Article IX of the City Charter of North Olmsted shall be repealed <br />as of that date, but shall not affect the tenure of members of Council and the <br />President of Council elected in tine 1961 general election. <br />Section 3: If any provision or part of the. amendments set forth in <br />Section i hereof shall be held invalid or unconstitutional, such holding shall <br />not affect any of the other provisions, sections, or garts thereof not inseprably <br />held with the part so r~eld invalid. <br />Section !t: That the Clsrk of Counciloe and s_~~e is hereby directed <br />to certify a copy of this ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga <br /> <br />
