If due <br />year earned and are <br />the rate of vacation <br />provided the same is <br />vacation week, a week shall be defined as seven <br />off. All vacation time shall be paid at the regular <br />to scheduling, vacations cannot be taken in the <br />iccumulated and taken in the next subsequent year, <br />pay shall be the rate of pay during the year taken <br />first approved by the Safety Director. <br />I. For the purpose of this Ordinance, the following provisions <br />apply with respect to hours worked and conditions of employment: <br />WORK SCHEDULE AND OVERTIME <br />1. The regular work schedule for Fire Prevention <br />personnel shall consist of five (5) consecutive eight <br />(8) hour days, Monday through Friday. Firefighting <br />platoon personnel shall have an average of a fifty-six <br />(56) hour duty week consisting of twenty-four (24) hour <br />shifts on a three (3) platoon basis. <br />2. Normal hours for employees working a forty (40) hour <br />week shall be from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. These <br />schedules are subject to adjustment by the Chief. <br />3. Any time worked in excess of eight (8) hours a day <br />and any time worked in excess of forty (40) hours a <br />week, or in the case of firefighting platoon personnel, <br />any time worked in excess of twenty-four (24) hours in <br />a seventy-two (72) hour period shall be considered over- <br />time. All employees, except the Chief of the Department, <br />shall be compensated for authorized overtime work at a <br />rate of time and a half of the regular rate of pay cal- <br />culated by dividing yearly salary by 2080 hours. The <br />Chief will be the determining authority on the necessity <br />for overtime. When compensatory time is desired, the <br />employee will determine, subject to the approval of the <br />Chief, when time will be taken. The minimum time to callback <br />shall be for two (2) hours. <br />4. Compensatory time cannot be transferred from one employee <br />to another employee. <br />J. In the event that a member of the Fire Department of the <br />City of North Olmsted should be injured while in the line of duty due <br />to a sudden and accidental occurrence and such injury has so incapaci- <br />tated said member of the Fire Department that he is temporarily unable <br />to work, then the Director of Public Safety, after determining that said <br />injury is work related and is of a temporary nature, may authorize full <br />payment of the employee's regular salary for a period of not more than <br />ninety (90) days. If after said ninety (90) day period, said employee <br />is still temporarily incapacitated, then the Director of Public Safety <br />shall recommend to Council whether or not to continue said salary. <br />Council shall forthwith review the matter and by majority vote determine <br />whether the employee shall continue to receive his full salary during <br />recuperation.
