zo. <br />(a) A cellar or basements when designed for occupancy as a dwellings <br />shall be counted as a story; when otherwise designed and used it shall not be <br />;. <br />:ounted as a story. <br />(b) On a corner ~.ot facing two (2) or store frontages, the height shall be <br />oaken from ~ level midway in elevation between the highest curb level and the low- <br />.st curb level; and this height limitation shall apply upon such Lot nat farther <br />than to the 'center of the lot beyond which stay portion of the same lot shall have <br />~ height limitation similar to that applying upon the property next ad3acent thersto. <br />(c) On a through lot the height limit inc~.uding all exceptions thereto, <br />beginning at either frontage, sl~ali apply to a depth not exceeding one.-half the <br />iepth of the lot. <br />(d) On an interior lot site height Limit, including all exceptions thereto, <br />shall apply to a depth equal to one-.half the depth of the block as measured from <br />frontage to frontage on a line projected through the center of the lot 3:n question. <br />any rear portion of such lot, beyond the center line of the lot, shall have a <br />Height limit similar to that applying upon the lot 3~tediately abutting in the rear <br />thereof. <br />Section 4. HEIGHT .OF PtJBLiC OR,~SFI+I~-PU8I,1C ~tJIi~INGS. Tn any residence <br />oir retail business district., the height ],imitation for public or semi-public build- <br />ings, churches, hospitals, sanitariums or schools may be increased to forty (!;0) <br />feet, but not to exceed three (~) stories, provided that the width of each side <br />~~ard r4quired by the Schedule o~ Height and Area Regulations for the District in <br />:~hich the building is located, be increased so as to provide that no point in any <br />gall of the building above the height limitation of the District shall be nearer to <br />the vertical plane through a side .lot line than a distance equal to one-third the <br />height of such point above the curb level. <br />Section 5. HEIGHT OF SPECIAL STRUCTURES. In a retail business the <br />height limitation. of the District may be exceeded by structures requiring special <br />design on account of their particular use in coemmerce, (such as chimneys, stacks, <br />detached water or wireless towers, etc.) provided they otherwise comply with the <br />regulations herein prescribed. <br />Section 6. APPURTENAMCES TO BUILDINGS. In any district, chimneys, <br />stacks, elevator bulkheads, penthouses, gas or water towers, cooling towers, stags <br />towers or scenery lefts, wireless towers, and other-necessary mechanical appurte- <br />nances, where permitted by the Use Regulations, and erected upon and as an integral <br />part of the building, may be erected or extended above the height limit of the dis- <br />trict; provided that any such structure shall set back from the vertical plane of <br />:.he permitted building line one (1) foot horizontally for each two (2) feet of <br />
