,~. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO, 64-~~ <br />BY <br />~,~ ' ~ <br />C <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 20 OF ORDINANCE <br />NO. 315 8 , TITLE THREE, CHAPTER 913 , SECTION 913.2 0 , <br />ENACTED NOVEMBER 15, 1960, AND ENTITLED, "GREASE, <br />OIL, AND SAND INTERCEPTORS" , AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Service Director has informed council <br />that the sewer system of the City of North Olmsted has been receiving <br />excessive amounts of grease from establishments which prepare food, and <br />WHEREAS, the grease in the sewer system causes the <br />sewer system not to function properly, and <br />WHEREAS, Council in order to protect the sewer systems <br />for the citizens of North Olmsted now desire to establish a regulation for <br />the handling of grease and other materials from food establishments within <br />the City of North Olmsted, by amending Section 913.20, Chapter 913, <br />Title Three (Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio) . <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of <br />the City of North Olmsted, Ohio: <br />Section 1. That Section 20 of Ordinance No. 315$, <br />(Codified Ordinance Section 913.20 , Chapter 913 , Title Three ) <br />enacted November 15 , 19 60 , and entitled, "Grease , Oil , and Sand <br />Interceptors" and reading as follows: <br />"Grease, oil and sand interceptors shall be provided <br />when, in the opinion of the Service Director, they <br />are necessary for the proper handling of liquid wastes con- <br />taining grease in excessive amounts, or any flammable <br />wastes, sand and other harmful ingredients, except that <br />such interceptors shall not be required for private living <br />quarters or dwelling units . A11 interceptors shall be of a <br />type and capacity approved by the Service Director, <br />and shall be located as to be readily and easily accessible <br />for cleaning and inspection . <br />"Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of imper- <br />vious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme <br />changes in temperature . They shall be of substantial <br />construction, watertight and equipped with easily removable <br />covers which, when bolted in place, shall be gastight and <br />watertight . <br />'Where installed, all grease,_ oil and sand interceptors <br />shall be maintained by the owner, at his expense, in <br />continuously efficient operations at all times . " <br />
