r I .. a. _.r CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO.~ 64 ~~~ Page 2 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 20 of Ordinance No. 3158 (Title Three, Chapter 913 ., Section 913.20) Grease , Oil and Sand Interceptors . All food establishments which maintain a kitchen or other facilities for the preparation of food shall be required to have a 1, 000 gallon capacity grease-trap (grease interceptor) , said grease-trap shall be installed at least ten (10) feet from the building wherein the food is prepared, and said grease-trap (grease interceptor) shall be cleaned at least every three months or sooner, evidence of said cleaning to be exhibited to a member of the service department upon request, and further grease and oil and sand interceptors shall be provided when, in the opinion of the Service Director, they are necessary for the proper handling of liquid wastes containing grease in excessive amounts, or any flammable wastes, sand and other harmful ingredients, except that such interceptors shall not be required for private living quarters or dwelling units . All interceptors shall be of a type and capa- city approved by the Service Director, and shall be located as to be readily accessible for cleaning and inspection. Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of imper- vious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in temperature They shall be of substantial construction, watertight and equipped with easily removable covers which, when bolted in place, shall be gastight and watertight. Where installed, all grease, oil and sand interceptors shall be maintained by the owner, at his expense, in continuously efficient operation at all times . Section 2. That Section 20 of Ordinance No. 3158 (Title Three, Chapter 913, Section 913. ZO Codified Ordinances) and any ordinances or resolutions or parts of Ordinances or Resolutions inconsistent nx in conflict herewith are hereby repealed with the effective date of this ordinance . Section 3. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of said City by virtue of the fact that the grease deposits within the sewer system of the City of North Olmsted endanger the health and welfare of the citizens; WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage, otherwise, at the earliest period of time allowed by law.
