CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 64 ~~ <br />r <br />By <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTIONS 373.01, 373.02, 373.03 <br />373.04, 373.05, 373.06, 373.07, 373.08, and 373.09 OF <br />CHAPTER 373, PART THREE OF THE CODIFIED OR.I~NANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND ANY ORDINANCE, THE <br />RESULT OF WHICH, THE AFORESAID CODIFIED ORDINANCES <br />BECAME EFFECTIVE AND TO ENACT NE'W SECTIONS 373.01 to <br />X73.;,26, BOTH INCLUSIVE, OF THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, <br />ALL RELATING TO THE OPERATION AND REGISTRATION OF <br />BICYCLES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the operation of bicycles within the City of North <br />Olmsted has become a problem to the safety of the bicycle riders and to <br />pedestrians, and <br />WHEREAS, Council for the safety and welfare of bicycle riders <br />and pedestrians, within the City of North Olmsted, has determined that it is <br />necessary to regulate the operation of bicycles, and <br />WHEREAS, for the immediate protection of the public health <br />and safety, Council wishes to enact the following ordinances. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section l: That Sections 373.01, 373.02, 373.03, 373.04, <br />373.05, 373.06, 373.07, 373.08 and 373.09, Chapter 373 Part. Three of <br />the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted be and the same are <br />hereby repealed effective with the effective date of this Ordinance . <br />Section 2: That Sections 373.01 to 373.26 are hereby added to <br />Chapter 373, Title Nine of the Traffic Code (Codified Ordinances) of the City <br />of North Olmsted, Ohio, and that Title Nine shall be known as Bicycle and Bicycle <br />Registration . <br />Section 373.01 Effect of Regulations <br />These regulations (applicable to bicycles shall apply whenever <br />a bicycle is operated upon any sidewalk, street or upon any <br />path set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles subject to <br />those exceptions stated herein. <br />Section 373.02 Bicycle Defined <br />A bicycle is hereby defined as set forth in Section 301.03 and <br />reading as follows: <br />"A bicycle shall mean atwo-wheel vehicle, propelled by human <br />power, having a tandum arrangement of wheels equipped with <br />tires either of which is over twenty inches in diameter. " <br />Section 373.03 Parent's Responsibility <br />The parent (s) of any child and the guardian of any ward shall <br />not authorize or knowlingly permit any such child or ward to <br />violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance. <br />i <br />
