CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO, 64 ~_ Page 6 <br />Section 373.18 <br />Emerging from Alley or Driveway <br />The operator of a bicycle emerging from an alley, driveway or <br />building shall upon approaching a sidewalk or the sidewalk area <br />extending across any alley or driveway yield the right of way to <br />all pedestrians approaching on such sidewalk area and upon <br />entering the street shall yield the right of way to all vehicles <br />approaching on such street. <br />Section 373.18 Carrying Articles <br />No person operating a bicycle shall carry any package, bundle <br />or article which prevents the rider from keeping at least one <br />hand upon the handle bars . <br />Section 373.20 Hitching Prohibited <br />No person riding any bicycle shall attach the same or himself to <br />any bus, trackless trolley or vehicle upon the street. <br />Section .373.21 Stolen Bicycles <br />No person shall steal any bicycle or purposely take, ride, or <br />operate any bicycle without consent of the owner thereof or buy <br />or conceal any bicycle that has been sold, knowing it to have <br />been stolen. <br />Section 373.22 Parking <br />(a) No prerson shall park a bicycle upon a sidewalk in such a <br />manner so as to interfere with pedestrian traffic or endanger <br />the property of another. <br />(b) No person shall park a bicycle upon a roadway in such <br />a manner as to interfere with i~ehicular traffic. <br />Section 373.23 Lamps and Other Equipment. <br />(a) Every bicycle when in use in night season shall be equipped <br />with a lamp on the front which shall emit a white light visible from <br />a distance of at least 500 feet to the front and with a red reflector <br />on the rear of a type which shall be visible from all distances from <br />50 feet to 300 feet to the rear when directly in front of lawful lower <br />beams of headlamps on a motor vehicle . A lamp emitting a red <br />light visible from a distance of 500 feet to the rear may be used <br />in addition to the red reflector. Every bicycle operated upon <br />any street during the time from one-half hour after sunset to one- <br />half hour before sunrise and at any other time when there is not <br />sufficient natural light to render discernible persons, vehicles <br />and substantial objects on the highway at a distance of 500 feet <br />ahead shall display lights as described above. <br />(b) No personal shall operate a bicycle unless it is equipped with <br />a bell or other warning device capable of giving a signal audible <br />for a distrance of at least 100 feet except that a bicycle shall not <br />be equipped with nor shall any person use on a bicycle any sirenor <br />whistle. <br />
