Resolution No. 1007 . <br />By Mr. Bidwell <br />,A RESOLUTION <br />PROTESTING PROPOSED SENATE BILL NO. 40 AND HOUSE BILL <br />NO. 122, PENDING BEFORE THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br />i� <br />WHEREAS the passage of Senate Bill No. 40 and /or <br />House Bill No. 122 will deprive Cuyahoga County of its <br />source of funds for the maintenance and repair of .highways <br />and bridges of Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS Cuyahoga County by the use of $850,000.00 <br />of said license tag money sponsors WPA projects employing <br />16,000 men and to which projects the Federal Government <br />has contributed and expended $12,000,000.00 per year; and <br />WHEREAS by reason of the passage of Senate Bill <br />No. 40 and /or House Bill No. 122 it will be impossible for <br />the.County of Cuyahoga to sponsor any WPA projects, result - <br />ing in a loss to the-County of $12,000,000,00 per year of <br />Federal money; and <br />WHEREAS the tremendous relief burden of the <br />taxpayers of Cuyahoga County will be overwhelmingly in- <br />creased by the loss of employment to said 16,000 WPA <br />workers, necessitating the support of 16,000 men, their <br />families and dependents by direct relief tb which the <br />Federal Government will in no manner contribute; and <br />WHEREAS the loss of license tag money will <br />further suspend the proper maintenance and repair of roads <br />and bridges and will aggravate hazards and seriously <br />endanger the life, limb and property of -the- citizens of <br />Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS the passage of Senate Bill No. 40 and /or <br />House Bill No. 122 will irreparably jeopardize the tremendous <br />capital investment of all taxpayers and citizens in the <br />roads, bridges and highways of Cuyahoga County, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council <br />of the Village of North Olmsted, Ohio: <br />Section 1. That this council go on record as <br />unanimously protesting the passage of said proposed Senate <br />Bill No. 40 and /or House Bill No. 122, and that a certified <br />' copy of this resolution be forwarded immediately to Hon. <br />- John W. Bricker, Governor of the State of Ohio and the <br />General Assembly of Ohio, calling attention to the fact that <br />the interests and welfare of the citizens, ,members, etc., <br />of the Village of North Olmsted and ` of Cuyahoga County demand <br />that these bills be defeated. <br />Section 2.
