Resolution No. 973 <br />By I11Ir. Koelewyn <br />A RESOLUTION <br />REQUESTING THE COUNTY COMIISSIONERS OF CUYAHOGA COUNTY STATE OF <br />OHIO, TO PURCHASE LAND TO STRAIGHTEN AND WIDENI COLU11BI. ROAD <br />BETWEEN LORAIN ROAD AND WATER STREET. <br />WHEREAS Columbia Road, between Lorain Road and Water <br />Street, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, is narrow and has several sharp <br />curves and steep grades not conforming to present standards of <br />grades and sight distances; and <br />WHEREAS said Columbia Road, between Lorain Road and <br />1 11ater Street in said County, is ­a much used and traveled public <br />thoroughfare and has been designated as a State route; and <br />WHEREAS said sharp curves and-steep grades constitute <br />a danger arid'hazard to the traveling public and especially to <br />the residents of North Olmsted who daily use said Columbia Road; and <br />1 "dHEREAS this Council deems it necessary for the pre - <br />servation of life and property that said Columbia Road, between I <br />Lorain Road and Plater Street, be widened and that the curves and <br />grades on said road" be so changed as to conform to present !I <br />standards of safety, <br />i <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />Village of North Olmsted, Ohio: 1 <br />Section 1: That the County Commissioners of Cuyahoga <br />County, State of Ohio,,be and they are hereb requested and urged <br />immediately to.purchase such additional righ� of way on Columbia <br />Road between Lorain Road and Water Street, as may be necessary <br />in the changing of existing curves and grades upon said road to <br />Meet present standards of safety. <br />Section 2. That the County Commissioners of Cuyahoga <br />County, Ohio, be and they are hereby requested and urged toy <br />Widen Columbia Road, between Lorain Road and 1;ater Street, and to <br />eliminate existing dangerous curves and grades upon said Columbia <br />Road so that the curves and grades upon said road shall meet <br />Present standards of safety. <br />Section 3. That Columbia Road, between'Lorain Road <br />and Water Street; as it now exists constitutes a danger and <br />hazard to the lives and property of the public traveling upon said <br />Columbia Road. <br />Section 4._That the Clerk be and he is hereby.--directed <br />to mail a certified copy of this Resolution to the County Commis - <br />sinners of Cuyahoga County, Ohio. <br />Section 5. This resolution shall take effect and be <br />in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law: <br />Passed: October 4, 1938. / <br />
