October 3, 1950. <br />MUNUTES OF A rEETING OF THE OOUNCIL OF THE VILIAGE OF . NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO , <br />Present were Clarence J. Oviatt, Mayor, E. Bawn„ardner, Fred Hatton, Dr. C. B. <br />Lewis, B. F. Scott. Wm. H. Kramer attended latter part of ineeting. Mr. <br />Paddock was absent. <br />The minutes of September 19, 1950 were approved as read. <br />The Mayor read a conununication from Mrs. R,obert L. Hunter, in which a group of <br />mothers requested permission for the operation of a Nursery School for pre- <br />school age children at the Ra1ph Schmiedlin residence, 25082 Kennecly Ridge <br />Road. Permission had been refused by the Building Coaunissioner earlier due <br />to a misunderstanding in the request. <br />It was mAVed and aeconded that permission be granted Mr. & Mrs. xalph Schmiedlin. <br />to operate a Nursery School at 25082 Kennedy Ridge NAad. "Yeas" Baumgardner, <br />Hatton, Lew3.s, Scott. <br />The Mayor read a communication from Loser's Dinner House, requesting that <br />their property having a frontage of 1+70 Yeet on Dover Center Road, be rezoned <br />from a residence district to a retail business district. The matter was re- <br />ferred to the Planning Commission. <br />The Mayor also read a letter from Mayor Kauffman of Lakewood in regard to the <br />County Charter, ixt which he stated his objections. <br />It was moved and seconded that members oP the Council attend some oY the meetings <br />in the Village to acquaint people with the County Charter. 'rfeas" Baumgardnerj <br />Hatton, Lewis, Scott. - <br />The Mayor read a comanunication from the National Citizen'a Comodttee regarding <br />United Nationa Day,-and proclaimed October 21+, 1950 United Nations Day. <br />It was aaved and seconded that 8ctober 24, 1950 be proclaimed United Nationa <br />,Day. 'nYeasn Baumgardner, Hattons Lewiss Scott. , <br />1The Mayor advised that Ordinance #834 passed on August 1, 1950 -- AN ORDINANCE <br />I'ROHIBITING THROUGH TRUCKS FR.OM DRIVING ON TEMPORARY STATE RDUTE N0. 17, <br />WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH OLMSTED,.OIffO -- was not being enforced due to the, <br />fact the Parkview Village had not put up any, signs to this effect in their <br />Village. - The matter of truck parking in fro nt of the Cottage Restaurant was discussed, <br />and the Mayor recommended that>there be no parkin; an either side of Lorain <br />IiAad, between Porter Road and East Park Drive, except for short-time parki.ng <br />in front of the post oPfica -- and suggested that the SaPety ComttLttee meet <br />with the businessmen next Monday evening, October 9th, in connection with pro- <br />hibiting parking at the corner. - <br />It was rmved and seconded that the Building and Grounds Committee be granted <br />power to act in connection with erectiqg a 40 x 40 metal building in the park <br />to house equipment. "Yeas" Baumgardner, Hatton, Lewis, Scott• <br />It was moved and seconded that the Street ComTnittee be given power to act to <br />tar-top West 233rd Street and Maple ftidge '.3oads if a contractor can be aecured <br />to do the work. "Yeas" Baumgardners Hattons Lewl.ss Scott. <br />A comraunication was received from the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Companyp <br />which was their 6-nwnth notice of an increase in rates. <br />It was moved and seconded that the Engineer be authorized to prepare plans for asidewalk on Dover Center Road between IA rain Road and Butternut Ridge Road. <br />"Yess" Baumgardner, Hatton., Lewiss Scott. <br />Mr. Scotto Chairman of Building and Grounds, reported that a suction fan,,to <br />improve ventilation in the Shelter House, could be purchased for 0150.00. <br />It was moved and seconded that a suction fan be purchased. !'Yeas" Bawmgardner, <br />-•Hatton, Lewis, Scott•
