September 19, 1950. <br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF <br />NORTH OIkLSTED, OHIO <br />Present were Clarence J. Oviatt, Ma.yor,E. Baumgardner, Fred Hatton, Wm. H, Kramer, <br />Dr. C. B. Lewis, B. F. Scott. Mr. Paddock was absent. <br />The minutes of September 5, 1954 were approved as read. <br />The matter of radio equipment Yor the police cars was discussed. Mr. Cornell oY <br />Y-otorola and Mr. Don S. McIlwa3n of General Electric described their respective <br />equipment. Mr. Rodick also addressed the Council in connection with the installa- <br />tion oY radio equipment and eervice. 2he Mayor suggested that the Safety `- <br />Colmnittee meet with ChieP Christman and Sgt. B3.ddulph,, and have an°answer available <br />For next Council Meet3ng. . . <br />Mrs. Anna Schaaser,9 22300 Lora3n Raad, requested permission to build a 20 x 20 <br />garage on a vacant lot on Broxbourne Road. The counci.], granted this request$ <br />Provided Mrs. Schaaser wnuld put up a$200.00 cash bond, assuring us that building <br />would not be used foriesidence purposes. <br />Yiss Florence-E. Crider requested permission to divide a parcel of land on <br />McKenzie Road$ 112"x 4851 into two 561. lots. This matter was referred to the <br />I'lanning Commission. <br />Xr+ Scott reported that an alternate 'plan for 'a builclirig to house equipment,, ti,rould <br />be to build twd Kalls back of bus garage. The Mayor reported.that 20 - 10 x 10 <br />corrugated iron sheet9 to erect a building !?0 x 60 in sizs would cost $300.00 with <br />posts, but without roof. . <br />Mr. Hattonv Chairman of the Planning Comission, reported that the Planning Comis- <br />sion recommended that Mr. Ackerer's prope?r in Lorain Road be rezoned from resi- <br />dence to retail busineas - not to..include! arn.?? <br />Ordinance #g1a7 was introduced by Mr. Baumgardner. An Ordinance to amend the Zone <br />14ap and Zoning Ordinance of the Village oP North Olmsted by changing Yrom a resi- <br />dence district to a retail business district the land on Lorain Hoad hereinafter <br />described. This ordinance was given its firat reading on1y. . <br />It was moyed and seconded that the Cierk advertise this change in the Zone Map and <br />Zoning Ordinance. Scott. <br />Mr• Baumgardner reported that the Transportation Committee held a meetirig on <br />september llth, and discnssed the Yo11ow3.ng subjects, on which they wuuld ],ike <br />to have the Council's approval: <br />1. Charging bus line $120.00 per month Yor rent, heat, light and water; <br />portlon of secretary's salary in the amount of $100#00; - <br />50% oS phone bill. ., <br />2. Recomended that William Jenkina be reclassified as a Clerical <br />Aasistant in the Bus I,iue at the hourly rate oP $1.40 per hour. <br />3. Recoammended that school children riding:in to Cleveland from <br />North 0lmsted, Fairview, 0lmsted Fa11s and.Westlaks, ride at <br />, half-fare, and that three zone colored plastic chips be furnished <br />and.sold at the Town Hall to elementarq and high school students <br />$o desiring the use of the tacilities -- and that maximum time <br />which said chips would be honored would bo on the 7t15 west bound <br />and 6:15 east bound. <br />4. Recoamended that the McDonald TransYer system be replaced by a <br />system sold by the Globe Ticket Compaty. <br />It was suggested that no action be taken on the fore <br />goirg recommendations until <br />neact meeting. <br />It wgs moved and seconded that Charles Best'a egpenses at the Ohio State Safety <br />Conf'erence, held at the Hotel Carter in Cleveland September 19,0 20 and 21, 1950
