<br />MINUTE,S OF A MEETING OF THE C OUNC IL OF THE C ITY OF
<br />NORTH OIMSTED, OHIO
<br />Present were E. W. Baumgardnero President of Council, L. H. Baker, Haxry M, Crider,
<br />R. L. Decker, R. G. Knapp, Williazn H. Kramer, R. G. Neubauer., G. H. Schwenk.
<br />Mayor C. B. I,ewis was absent.

<br />A motion was aade by Mr. Neubauer and seconded by Mr. Kramer that the minutes
<br />of september 6, 1955 be approved as read. "Yeas" Bakers Crider, Decker, Knapp,
<br />.Kramers Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />A coaamunication was read from the P7.anning Commission recoanmending to Council
<br />that the land awned by Great Northern Shoppers Mart, be rezoned for retail business.
<br />The parcel is located at the corner of Lorain and West Park Drive and fronts approxi-
<br />matelp 697 feet on Lorain Road, and runs a depth of a.pproximately 2600 feet.
<br />Ordinance #2205 was introduced by Mr. Baker, An Ordinance to amend the Zone Map
<br />and Zoning Ordinance of the City of North OLnated, Ohio, by changing fron "AA" Residence District to?:a retail business district, parcel of land at the northwest
<br />corner of Lorain Road an3 West Park Drive. The ordinance was given its first
<br />reading only.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Baker and seconded by Mr. Decker authorizing the SaYety-
<br />Service Director to advertise the change in zoning. "Yeas" Baker, Crider., Decker,
<br />Knapps Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />A motion was made by Mr, Schwenk and seconded by Mr. Neubauer that the engineer pre-
<br />pare an estimate ot the cost of widening WQSt Park Drive to a 40 ft. road with curb
<br />on both sides ard sidewalk on the west side its entire length. "Yeas" Baker, Crider,
<br />Decker, Knapp, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director appointed George C. Roberts as Jailer aryd G. L. Hartsel
<br />as School Guard. ? ---

<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Baker that the above appoint-
<br />ments be approved. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Knapp., Kraner, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director read a communication ccmnending the membera of the
<br />Police Department and Sgt. Hird in particular.
<br />The Safety-Service Director stated that the Mayor and Service Director of Fairview
<br />met with our Mayor, Service Director and Engineers regarding the ditch t o the rear
<br />of W. 229th Street. There is a possibility that ons line is draining through
<br />North Olmsted, which will be taken care of by the two Service Departments# and it
<br />will either tie into the Fairview sewer or later into the new developnent, which
<br />wi.ll include W. 230th Street, and the ditch in question would be filled.
<br />Mr. Kraner, Chairman of the Finance CoQnmittees stated that the Finance Cacnmittee
<br />recommended the following increaseg in salaries effective January 4 1956:
<br />Service Department .05 per hour
<br />Street Com?ni$sioner 3%
<br />Treasurer $108.00 per year 5afety-Service Director 300.00 n it
<br />Law Director 500.00 " °
<br />Police and Fire Departments 100.00 per year clothing allawance
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Decker that the Solicitor
<br />draw legislation Yor the above, "Yeas" Bakers Crider, Decker, Knapp, Kramers
<br />Neubauer, Schwenk. ,
<br />Mr. Neubauer stated there would be a meeting oY the Transportation Caacnittee and
<br />the Safety- Service Director next Saturday mornirig, to discuss rental Yor keeping
<br />the new Yire truck in the bus garage.
<br />Xr. 5chwenks Chaiiman of the Safety-Cammittee stated that a meeting was held on
<br />September lOth and that the Safety CoQnmittee recommended that parking in f ront of
<br />the Bushnell Building, amd o ? and
<br />that the Safety-Service Director have the street marked for parking in front oY
<br />the Hardware Store, . -
