<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF "THE COUPICIL OF TIiE CITY OF

<br />Present were Dr. C. B. Lewis, Nlayor, E. 1rI. Bawngardner, President of Council,
<br />L. H. Baker, Harry M. Crider, R. L. Declcer, R. G. Knapp, Williain H. Kramer, R. G.
<br />Neubauer, G. H. Schwenls.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Neubauer that the mi.riutes of
<br />August 16, 1955 be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Criderp Decker, Knapp, Kraaier,
<br />Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />A communication was read frora the Planning Commi.ssion recommending to Council that
<br />? the plat of MacI:enzie Park Developrnent No. 1, ennsisting of 34 lots west of Mac
<br />Kenzie Road, be aceepted for recording purposes only.
<br />Ordinance #-2195 was introduced by Mr. Baker. An Ordinance accepting the plat of
<br />MacKenzie Park Development Noe l for subdivision and recording purposes only.
<br />It was moved and seconded that the statutory rule be suspended and the Ordinance
<br />be read 3.mmediately the second and third times and put on its passage. The affir-
<br />mative vote on said motion was as folloyas: Baker, Crider, Decker, Knapp, Kramer,
<br />Neubauer, Schwenlc. Thereupon the Ordinance was read the second and third times and
<br />put upon its passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as follows: Baker, Crider,
<br />Decker, Knapp, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director reported that the Board of Control awarded the contract
<br />for the five units of traffic lights on Brookpark Road to Westinghouse Electric Co.
<br />in the amount of $2085.9$.
<br />Resolution #2196 was introduced by Mr. Schwenk. A Resolution authorizing and direct-
<br />ing the Director of Public Service to enter into a contract for the purcha.se of ,
<br />traffic signa].s and controllers for use on Brookpark Road. It was moved and seconded
<br />that the statutory rule be susp+ended and t he Resolution be read immediately the second
<br />and third times and put on its passage. The affirnative vote on said motion was as
<br />follows: Balcer, Crider, Decker, Knapp, Kramer, PJeubauer, Schwenk. Thereupon thQ
<br />Resolution rras read the second and third times and put upon its passage and the affir-
<br />mative vote thereon was as follows: Baker, Crider, Decker, Knapp, Kramer, Neubauer,
<br />SchUrenk.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Crider and seconded by Mr. Decker authorizing the Safety-
<br />Service Director to advertise for bids for the installation of the five units of
<br />traffic lights on Brookpark Road. "Yeas" Baker., Crider, Decker, Knapp, Kramer.,
<br />Neubauer., Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director reported that the Board of Control awarded the contract
<br />for the 4,050 yards of excess fill dirt on nunicipal property at the southwest corner
<br />of Lorain and Dover Center Hoad to 5medley Excavating Co. in the amount of w1255.00.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Neubauer and seconded by Mr. Kramer that the above bid be
<br />reJected. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Knapp, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />14r. Neubauer read the follawing communication fran the Clerk of Council of Fairview
<br />Park: . .,
<br />"This is to confirm previous verbal reports of ovr Transportation Chairma.n, Mr.
<br />? White, approving the discontinuance of Sunday and Holiday runs on the Butternut
<br />ftidge Route. As reported by Mr. lrthite, Council took formal action on this matter
<br />on July 5th, and to the e::tent this constitutes a change in the bus franchise,
<br />it may be so considered." .
<br />Mr. Neubauer, Chairman of the Transportation'Committee stated that it had:been brought '
<br />to his attention that the salaried employees of the Bus Line had been overlooked on
<br />the previous increase, and that if the 6% increase were raa.sed l% to 7;$, it would bring
<br />them up to the same level at this time, increase to be effective September lb., 1955.
<br />It was recomnended that the Chairniaxi of the Bus Drivers' Committee, Mr. Best and Mr.
<br />Bidwell receive copies of the monthly report of the Bus Line.
<br />Mr, Schwenk., Chairma.n of the Safety Comrni.ttee, advised that the emergency car is '
<br />nocJ in operation and-that the new fire truck has been delivered. He also recananended
<br />that we wait until the new road is open before any definite action is taken on a:
<br />" traffic light at Whitethorne arui Lorain Rd.
