<br />Mr. Neubauer read a cor.¢nunication fran t he Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. '
<br />in which they reported on a flashing beacon installed August 8, 1955 on Butternut
<br />Ridge Road at the entrance to North Olmsted High School.
<br />Mr. Neubauer also reccmended that the Finance Committee check to ses if they c.annot
<br />find finances for additional street lights.
<br />Mr. Knapp stated that the first section of Ylestchester Drive was in poor condition.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. ScYrqenk a.nd seconded by Mr. Neubauer that'the Solicitor be
<br />instructed to draw an ordinance setting up the specifications for new road construc-
<br />tion. "Yeas" Baker, Crider,, Decker, Knapp, Kramer.. Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />Mr. Crider read the Health Revort for the month of July.
<br />Mr. Rathbun of Columbia Road stated that the residents in the vicinity of the sani-
<br />tary landfill want an answer as to just what they may look for froan the city. Mrs.
<br />YJilliam R. Gerlach of Florence Avenue stated she had not been asked to sign the '
<br />petition, and wanted to go on record as protesting the use of this land as a sanitary
<br />land-fill.
<br />The Mayor reported on the meeting of the Ohio I-2unicipal League to be held at Toledo,
<br />Ohio on September 21, 22 and 23.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Deckor authorizing the Mayor.,
<br />Clerk and Solicitor to attend the above meetin; 2nd that their expenses be paid.

<br />The Mayor read a communication from Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. regarding the
<br />National Safety Conference to be held at Hotel Carter on September 13, 14, 151, 1955.
<br />The Mayor declared the nonth of September, 1955 as "JOHN NIA_RSHALL BICENTENNIAL
<br />MONTN." ?
<br />The Mayor stated that a placque had been presented to'North Olmsted by The Annual
<br />Inventory of Traffic Safety Activities in recognition for our participation in the
<br />experimental inventory covering traffic activities of 1954 carried on by munici-
<br />palities of 5.,000 to 10,000 population.•.
<br />The Ma,yor reported on the trip he made to Columbus with the Engi.neer, Auditor and
<br />Solicitor to see Mr. John J. Heier re;arding the repaving of Lorain ftoad. NIr. Heier
<br />advised that the State r,ad no moneJ for additional road improvement -- that even
<br />if North 4lmsted could praduce their share of the estimated expense, namely
<br />$150;000.00 the Stata could not match it. The next step is to go to the Governor,
<br />and the Mayor read a letter which he intended sending the Governor with the approval
<br />of Council. ,
<br />The Mayor stated that a visit was also paid the Water Pollution Control Board irhile
<br />at Colwnbus and they indicated we may have to go ahead and build our awn plant.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by 14r. Knapp..that $21.10, covering ex-
<br />genses of the trip to Columbus, be paid. ".Yeas" Baker., Crider., Decker., Knapp,
<br />Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.

<br />Auditor to furnish a certificate of the estima,ted life or usefulness of the improve-
<br />ment of Whitehaven Avenue from Elmhurst Road to Broxbourne ftoad, by constructing ,
<br />therein a water main. It was moved and seconded that_the statutory rule be suspended
<br />and the ftesolution be read 3m*ttediately the second and third t3mes and put on its pas-
<br />sage. The affirmative vote on said motion was'as follows; Baker,, Crider., Decker,
<br />Kn,app, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk. Thereupon the Resolution was read the second and
<br />Third times and put upon its passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as follaws:

<br />your Resolution J/2197 of September 6, 1955, is hereby certified to be at least ten
<br />years.
<br />2. The maxiraum maturity of such notes calculated in accordanee with the provi-
<br />sions of Section 133.20 of the Revised'Code of Ohio is two years.
