<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL QF THE CITY OF
<br />NORTH OIMSTED, OHIO
<br />Present were Dr. C. B. Lewis, Mayor., E. W. Baumgardner,, President of Council,
<br />L. H. Baker, Harr3? M. Crider, R. L. Decker, William H. Kramer, R. G. Neubauer,
<br />G• H. Schwenk. Mr. R. G. Knapp was absent.
<br />A motion was`made by Mr. Kramer and seconded`by Mr. Neubaner that the minutes
<br />of January lg, 1955 be approved as read. <"Yeasn Baker; Crider, Decker, Kramer,
<br />Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />7'he Service Director advised that he had appointed Mrs. Florence Cox on
<br />January 27, 1955, to assist the Mayor with his office work.
<br />Ordinance #2084 was introduced bq Mr. Kramer. An Ordinance fiacing the salary
<br />and compensation of oPfice employees. It was moved and seconded that the
<br />statutory rule be suspended and the Ordinance;be read immediately the second
<br />and third times and put on its passage. The aPfizYaative vote on said motion
<br />was as follaws: Baker., Crider, Decker, Kramer,_Neubauer,•Schwenk. Thereupon
<br />the Ordinance was read the second and third times and put-upon its passage ard
<br />the affinnative vote thereon mas as follows: Baker, Crider, Decker., Kramer,,
<br />Neubauer., Schwenk. ,
<br />The 3ervice Director advised that?the cost of allotment bonds for putting in
<br />water lines, sewers, pavements and sidewalks were too high and suggested that the
<br />allotter be pexmitted to install the water linea and sewers and then prior to
<br />time for acceptance by,Council the allotter be.required to furnish bonda for
<br />pavement and sidewalks. The matter was referred to the Solicitor:
<br />Ordinance #2085 was introduced by Mr. Neubauer. An,Ordinance to provide for
<br />the registration of plumbing contractors. It was moved and seconded that the
<br />statutory rule be $uspended and the Ordinance be:read;immediately the second
<br />and third times and put on`its passage. :The vote on,said motion.was as Pollows:
<br />"Yeas" Cridert Neubauer. ."Nays" Baker., Decker, Kramer., Schwenk.
<br />The above Ordinance was given its first reading only. -
<br />Mr. Schwenk, Chairman of the Safety Committee stated that the'Safety Comtaittee '
<br />and Safety Director discussed specifications for the new piece of:fire apparatus .
<br />and recommended them to Council. Moved by Mr. Schwenk, seconded by Mr. Baker,
<br />the Safety Director be instructed to advertiae for bids for a new pumper as per
<br />specifications in an amount not to exceed $30,000.00. "Yeas" Baker, Crider,
<br />Decker, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk. , -
<br />Mr. Schwenk., Chairman of theSafety Committee, stated he conferred * ri.th the. Po13.ce
<br />ChieY and recommended that Harry W. Hird attend the caurse at Western Reserve
<br />University, also that Clifford Biddulph be sent to Columbus to attend a Traffic
<br />Course for two weeks.
<br />Moved by Mr. Neubauer, secon3ed by Mr. Kramer that'the expenses be paid for '-
<br />Harry Hird attending the course at Western Reserve TJniversity and Clifford
<br />Biddulph attending the Traffic Course at Columbus. "Yeas" Baker, Crider., Decker, -? Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenko
