<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF TiE CITY OF
<br />NORTH OLMSTEDS OHIO
<br />Present were E. W. Baumgardner, President of Council, L. H. Baker, Iiarry M. Crider,
<br />R. L. Decker, William H. Kramer, Bruce W. MacDonald, R. G. Neubauer.
<br />Dr. C. B. Lewis and Mr. Schwenk were absent.
<br />Also preaent were F. G. Kitson, Solicitor, James F. Votava, Safety-Serviae
<br />Directors Everett Dean, Engineer, E. M. Christman, Clerk.
<br />In the absence of Mayor Lewis, E. W. Baumgardner became Acting Mayor and
<br />Robert L. Decker became President pro tem.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Neubauer and seconded by Mr. Crider that the minutes of
<br />March 19, 1957 be approved as read. "Yeasn Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramerp
<br />MacDonald., Neubauer.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Crider and seconded by Mr. Neubauer that the minutes of
<br />March 26, 1957 be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer$
<br />NlacDonald, Neubauer.
<br />The Safety-Service Directar appointed ftussell K. Schauer and Jobn J. MacDaniels
<br />as Auxi].iary Policemen, eFfective immediately.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Crider that the above appoint-
<br />ments be approved. "Yeaa" Baker., Crider, Decker, Kramer, MacDonald, Neubauer.
<br />A letter was read from the Planni.ng Corrunission regarding the atatus of Council's
<br />program for obtaining future playground areas in North Olmsted. An answer was with-
<br />held until the zaatter could be checked with the Chairman of the Municipal Properties
<br />Committee.
<br />A commun3,cation was read from the Planning Commission requesting the Law Director
<br />to determine why plats are being accepted for recording, and also by banks and
<br />Title dompanies, without approval of the Planning Commission.
<br />A motion was ma,de by Mr. Baker and seconded by Mr. MacDonald that the matter be
<br />referred to the Solicitor. 'tYeas" Baker, Crider., Decker, Kramerg MacDonald,
<br />Neubauer.
<br />Mr. Neubauer, Chairman of Transportation, stated that a meeting was held with
<br />Olmsted Township on March 20th. They are requesting more transportation in Olmsted
<br />Township and another meeting is to be held April 10th. On Ntarch 2$th, a meeting
<br />was held with the Superintendent of the garage in regard to expediting repairs of
<br />bus motors$ window repairs, upholstery repairs, etc. At that time the Superintendent
<br />a8reed to send out motors for repairs and also that he would make an effort to get
<br />the wirldows taken care of and the interior of the busses cleaned.up. There is to
<br />be another meeting in a month to see what prngress has been made. They are also
<br />8aing to try to line up a schedule for painting busses perhaps on a five year basis.
<br />The Bus Driverst Committee has made a little change in their set-up. At the
<br />October l8, 1956 meeting, they decided to retain Chris Schmidt Yor six months;
<br />Lee Case for one year and Arthur Kreutzer for a period of one pear and six months.
<br />George Weber is the representative from the garage. Election will be held every
<br />six months to replace the retiring member. , ..
<br />In conriection with uniform allowance for drivers three tailors were checked Yor
<br />prices, and a11 were in the neighborhood of $85.00 for 1jacket, two trousers,
<br />1 hat, three gray shirts. Drivers request that company purchase first uniform and
<br />make an annual allowa.nce of $75.40 thereaYter - also pay for bus garage coveralls.
<br />As far as could be-determined, no other bus lines maintain a uniform allowance.
<br />The Transportation Committee also requested consideration of the additibn of two .
<br />more busses by the end oY.this year.
<br />Mr. Morrison appeared before Council regarding the ditch on the boundary line between
<br />Fairvi,eW and North Olmsted. He is going to open the ditch temporarily to relieve
<br />the situation and give the Ehgineer a chance to negotiate with Fairview about the
<br />sewer on Florence. , +
