MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> JANUARY 7, 2014 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br /> Limpert, Kearney and Schumann <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Planning/Development Wenger and <br /> Director of Human Resources Farver <br /> Absent: Council Member Williamson <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The Council meeting minutes of November 19, 2013 were approved as written. <br /> No legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • He thanked Council for considering the reappointments of Planning and <br /> Development Director, Kim Wenger, and Human Resources Director, Cheryl <br /> Farver. <br /> • Please be advised that trash, recycle and bulk collection will be delayed one day <br /> this week due to the weather conditions. <br /> • The State of the City address is scheduled for Thursday January 16, 2014 at 11:30 <br /> a.m. at the Radisson. The event is sponsored by the North Olmsted Chamber of <br /> Commerce. Please make reservations with them. <br /> • Springvale Golf Course Superintendent, Marty Young, is leaving the City of <br /> North Olmsted. He is taking another golf-related job, and he will be missed. <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • He is pleased to announce that Bryan O'Malley and Carole Heyward will both <br /> continue to serve as Assistant Directors of Law for the City of North Olmsted <br /> during this term in the Law Dept. Michael Gordillo will continue to serve as <br /> Prosecuting Attorney, and Annie Kilbane will continue to serve as his Assistant. <br /> • The Law Dept. will represent the Administration in a combined arbitration <br /> tomorrow regarding former North Olmsted Police Officer Brian Bielozer and <br /> current Police Officer Jennifer Hayner. Arbitration concerns a pay dispute over <br /> whether certain alleged injuries weren't what is traditionally known as Valor Pay. <br /> The city has denied those claims, the FOP grieved that and it is now scheduled for <br /> arbitration tomorrow. <br />
