Council Minutes of 01-07-2014 • The city Administration received a total of 4 submittals pursuant to the advertised Request for Proposals for labor counsel. This concerns various disciplinary matters concerning two North Olmsted Police Officers. A committee consisting of Directors Farver, Wenger and Copfer reviewed each submittal. Attorney Jack Petronelli with the law firm of Gary C. Johnson & Associates was selected. He received the highest score in the review process. Mr. Petronelli will represent the City of North Olmsted in the arbitrations that will be scheduled for Fox and Bielozer and also for the Civil Service Commission (with a meeting scheduled on the 13`h) • He welcomed and congratulated new Councilwoman Hemann and told her he looks forward to working with her. He congratulated Mayor Kennedy and his Administration and also for the one year anniversary of Kennedy's Mayor's Court. Director of Finance Copfer: • She welcomed Councilwoman Hemann and congratulated Council on their new committee appointments. She is happy to answer any questions that Council may have at any time. • There was a problem with the Report Writer for the month of November, but they have closed the books for it. They are still working on getting the reports out in the proper format. • She has been working on closing the year, putting together the 2014 appropriations with the Administration and working on several contractual issues. Council President Jones, Chairwoman of the Committee of the Whole: The Committee of the Whole met Tuesday January 7, 2014 at 6:46 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. Present were all members of Council except Councilwoman Williamson. The committee met to discuss the reorganization of Council and the appointment to committees. Councilman Barker made a motion to adopt the recommendations of the Committee of the Whole regarding appointments to committees, Boards and Commissions. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Recommendations approved 6-0. Councilman Barker made a motion to appoint Councilman Brossard as Council President Pro-tem for the year 2014. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Councilman Brossard elected as Pro-tern 6-0. Councilman Barker made a motion to adopt the Rules of Council. The motion was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed unanimously. Rules of Council adoption 6-0. Councilman Schumann made a motion to approve the Mayor's appointments of Kim Wenger as Director of Human Resources and Cheryl Farver as Director of Human Resources. The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Appointments approved 6-0. 2
