MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> FEBRUARY 18, 2014 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br /> Limpert, Schumann and Williamson <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety/Service Glauner (appointed this <br /> evening) and Director of Human Resources Farver <br /> Absent: Council Member Kearney <br /> Planning/Development Director Wenger <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The special Council meeting minutes of January 7, 2014 were approved as written. <br /> The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br /> this evening: Second Reading — Resolution 2014-3, Ordinance 2014-8 and Resolution <br /> 2014-9; First Reading— Resolutions 2014-15, 2014-16 and 2014-17. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • The city's new Safety/Service Director, Don Glauner, was sworn in on February <br /> 13, 2014. <br /> • On Thursday February 27, 2014, the Senior Center will be hosting an all-day <br /> "grand re-opening" open house. All are welcome to stop by anytime during the <br /> day for a visit and tour. <br /> • The Fish Fry's at Springvale begin on March 7, 2014. They are held every Friday <br /> during Lent from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Senior dinners are $8.95 during the Early <br /> Bird Special from 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. Local non-profit organizations will serve <br /> as waiters and waitresses, and the tips will go to the group working that evening. <br /> • Last week, the city began a one-year process to update the community Master <br /> Plan. The first meeting of the Citizen Steering Committee took place on February <br /> 13, 2014 at Fire Station #1. The kickoff meeting involved introductions of <br /> members and the process and some initial brainstorming. This group will next <br /> meet on March 13, 2014. <br /> • The city is experiencing a traffic situation in the Brookpark/Lorain/Sparky Lane <br /> intersection area. During the last water break, the traffic signal loop was cut at <br /> Sparky and Lorain. This has caused the traffic lights in the area to get out of <br /> sync. The city has received quotes for the repair and has contacted Cleveland <br /> Water. They have given the city permission to move forward with the repairs. <br />
