MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FEBRUARY 18, 2014 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety/Service Glauner (appointed this evening) and Director of Human Resources Farver Absent: Council Member Kearney Planning/Development Director Wenger Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The special Council meeting minutes of January 7, 2014 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading — Resolution 2014-3, Ordinance 2014-8 and Resolution 2014-9; First Reading— Resolutions 2014-15, 2014-16 and 2014-17. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • The city's new Safety/Service Director, Don Glauner, was sworn in on February 13, 2014. • On Thursday February 27, 2014, the Senior Center will be hosting an all-day "grand re-opening" open house. All are welcome to stop by anytime during the day for a visit and tour. • The Fish Fry's at Springvale begin on March 7, 2014. They are held every Friday during Lent from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Senior dinners are $8.95 during the Early Bird Special from 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. Local non-profit organizations will serve as waiters and waitresses, and the tips will go to the group working that evening. • Last week, the city began a one-year process to update the community Master Plan. The first meeting of the Citizen Steering Committee took place on February 13, 2014 at Fire Station #1. The kickoff meeting involved introductions of members and the process and some initial brainstorming. This group will next meet on March 13, 2014. • The city is experiencing a traffic situation in the Brookpark/Lorain/Sparky Lane intersection area. During the last water break, the traffic signal loop was cut at Sparky and Lorain. This has caused the traffic lights in the area to get out of sync. The city has received quotes for the repair and has contacted Cleveland Water. They have given the city permission to move forward with the repairs.
