MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> °ir.. OCTOBER 1, 2013 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, <br /> Orlowski, Schumann, Williamson and Smith <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of <br /> Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The Council meeting minutes of August 20, 2013 were approved as written. <br /> The following legislation will be passed under suspension of the rules this evening: <br /> Second Reading— Resolution 2013-85. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Nary Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • On September 27, 2013 the Oxcart Pantry received the Program of the Year <br /> Award 2013 for Cuyahoga County by the Cleveland Foodbank. There were 330 <br /> pantries competing for this county wide award. The volume of service, education <br /> to clients, newsletter, produce program and use of technology were reasons cited <br /> for us receiving this award. The Cleveland Foodbank will produce a video <br /> highlighting the city's program as well. Congratulations to Chris Allegra, <br /> Georgia Wilder and all the volunteers that work so hard at the Pantry. <br /> • The pool repair work is underway. The city hopes to reopen on October 12 <br /> pending all repairs go as scheduled. The late night bash that was scheduled for <br /> this Saturday for 5`1'-8t graders is cancelled and will be rescheduled. <br /> • Springvale just completed its highest sales for the month of September for Golf <br /> Revenue ever. The weather for September was nearly perfect and the golf play <br /> was excellent. Springvale finished the month with $125,498 in golf revenue. The <br /> city had projected $115,000 and revenue was $100,493 in September 2012. <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • The City of North Olmsted was named as a defendant in two lawsuits last week. <br /> The first is RBS Citizens, NA v. Russell Wahlay which is a foreclosure action <br /> which he will be handling in-house. The second involves a motor vehicle <br /> accident between a vehicle operated by a member of the Service Dept. and a <br /> member of the public. This has been referred to our insurance company for <br /> 'fib0, defense of this action. <br />
