MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> Now <br /> NOVEMBER 6, 2013 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Kearney, Orlowski, <br /> Schumann, Williamson and Smith <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety/Service Thomas, Director of <br /> Planning/Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver <br /> Absent: Council Member Brossard <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The Council meeting minutes of September 17, 2013 were approved as written. <br /> The following legislation will be passed under suspension of the rules this evening: First <br /> Reading — Resolution 2013-96, Ordinance 2013-97, Resolution 2013-99 & Resolution <br /> 2013-100. <br /> Council President Jones thanked everyone in the city for participating in the election <br /> process and congratulated everyone who participated in the process. She read a quote <br /> from Theodore Roosevelt called Man in the Arena. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • The City of North Olmsted will host a free Thanksgiving Community Meal to <br /> serve those in need in the community on Wednesday November 27, 2013 at 4:30 <br /> p.m. at Springvale Ballroom. Staff members have volunteered to work this event. <br /> Food donations have been confirmed with Giant Eagle, Marc's, Bakers Square <br /> and Schwebels. The city is in need of several volunteers to work the dinner. <br /> Please contact secretaries Coletta Strippy or Annie Kilbane if you are interested in <br /> helping out. <br /> • The International Food Cookoff was held today at Springvale. There were about <br /> 200 people who attended making it the most well attended thus far. All proceeds <br /> will benefit the Senior Center. Emerald Village was the winner of the Cookoff <br /> with their American cuisine. <br /> • Staff in the Building, Engineering and Planning departments are receiving <br /> training this week from the Munis implementation team on the new permits <br /> software system that will go live on December 10, 2013.
