MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 15, 2014 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br />Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety /Service Glauner, Director of <br />Planning /Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver. <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: First Reading — Resolution 2014 -29. <br />Councilman Barker made a motion to amend the agenda to remove of Ordinance 2014 -31 <br />an Ordinance amending Section 161 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North <br />Olmsted entitled "Employees Generally" for the purpose of acknowledging and <br />accepting, upon hire, employee sick time accrued with another governmental agency and <br />further establishing an additional restriction for payout of sick leave upon death, <br />disability or retirement. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed <br />unanimously. Agenda amended to remove Ordinance 2014 -31. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• The city has three new hires: Administrative Assistant to the Mayor, Rebecca <br />Simons, who previously worked for the cities of Garfield Heights and Pepper <br />Pike; Springvale Events Coordinator, Kelsey Marasch; and Springvale part -time <br />clerical employee, Diane Metzger. <br />• Go North Olmsted is the community initiative to create the city's 2015 Master <br />Plan. As North Olmsted prepares to celebrate its bicentennial, the city is coming <br />together to determine where to "GO ". Join others who care about the future of <br />North Olmsted at the What's Next? Workshop on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at 7:00 <br />p.m. at John Knox Church. For more information, visit the website <br />gonortholmsted.org. <br />• The Fire Dept. received a check from the Ohio Dept. of Public Safety in the <br />amount of $2,750.00 as a result of a grant application submitted last July. <br />• North Olmsted police officer, Jack Justice, is doing well. He continues to <br />improve and is walking with the assistance of a walker. There will be a fundraiser <br />tomorrow at Applebee's for Jack Justice from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Fifteen <br />percent of profits will go towards Jack's fund. He thanked all city employees for <br />their generous contribution of sick time. The Administration received numerous <br />
