MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED APRIL 15, 2014 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety /Service Glauner, Director of Planning /Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver. Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: First Reading — Resolution 2014 -29. Councilman Barker made a motion to amend the agenda to remove of Ordinance 2014 -31 an Ordinance amending Section 161 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted entitled "Employees Generally" for the purpose of acknowledging and accepting, upon hire, employee sick time accrued with another governmental agency and further establishing an additional restriction for payout of sick leave upon death, disability or retirement. The motion was seconded by Councilman Kearney and passed unanimously. Agenda amended to remove Ordinance 2014 -31. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • The city has three new hires: Administrative Assistant to the Mayor, Rebecca Simons, who previously worked for the cities of Garfield Heights and Pepper Pike; Springvale Events Coordinator, Kelsey Marasch; and Springvale part -time clerical employee, Diane Metzger. • Go North Olmsted is the community initiative to create the city's 2015 Master Plan. As North Olmsted prepares to celebrate its bicentennial, the city is coming together to determine where to "GO ". Join others who care about the future of North Olmsted at the What's Next? Workshop on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at John Knox Church. For more information, visit the website gonortholmsted.org. • The Fire Dept. received a check from the Ohio Dept. of Public Safety in the amount of $2,750.00 as a result of a grant application submitted last July. • North Olmsted police officer, Jack Justice, is doing well. He continues to improve and is walking with the assistance of a walker. There will be a fundraiser tomorrow at Applebee's for Jack Justice from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Fifteen percent of profits will go towards Jack's fund. He thanked all city employees for their generous contribution of sick time. The Administration received numerous
