MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MAY 20, 2014 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety /Service Glauner, Director of Planning /Development Wenger and Director of Human Resources Farver. Absent: Council member Brossard Director of Finance Copfer Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading — Ordinance 2014 -32; First Reading — Resolution 2014- 38, Resolution 2014 -39 and Resolution 2014 -42. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • The Mayor swore in new North Olmsted Police Officer, Hasim Welch -Bey. • He thanked all of Council for attending the flooding meeting the week before on Thursday May 15`x'. There will be a follow up flooding meeting on Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Springvale Ballroom. He proposed to have a flooding - related meeting every 6 months to keep everyone updated on progress — what they've done, what's in the works and what they're going to continue to do so that they never lose focus on it. He complimented the Service Dept. on what a good job they did regarding the aftermath of the flooding. The city were underwhelmed with the results of Republic Waste. The Service Dept. worked from noon until 9 p.m. on Saturday and worked until 9 p.m. on Sunday as well to pick up garbage /items that were damaged in the flooding from resident's homes.
