Council Minutes of 06 -17 -2014 • Three arbitrations have been scheduled: June 19, 2014 for a former patrol officer; a second arbitration for that officer's termination on June 27, 2014; and a termination hearing for a WWTP dismissed from the city scheduled in July. • The City of North Olmsted will be filing a responsive pleading in the matter of Brian Bielozer vs. the City of North Olmsted in the United States Federal District Court no later than June 19, 2014. The city received permission for an extension of two weeks to file a responsive pleading. • In the matter of Brian Bielozer vs. the City of North Olmsted Civil Service Commission, the plaintiff has requested an extension of time to submit a merit brief in the appeal from the Civil Service Commission's decision to remove him from the Sergeant's promotional examination list in November 2013. If the motion is granted, the brief will be due on July 21, 2014 and the city will file its response shortly thereafter. Director of Finance Copfer: • No report in her absence. Councilman Barker, Chairman of the Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee: The Safety Committee met Tuesday June 10, 2014 at 7:21 p.m. Present were committee members Barker and Williamson; Council members Hemann, Kearney, Limpert and Schumann. • Discussed was new liquor permit no. 0340727 for Axiam, Inc. dba Wine Brew and More located at 26880 Brookpark Road. Sgt. Wagner of the North Olmsted Police Dept. has completed a review of this applicant, and offers no objection to this permit. Councilman Barker made a motion to not object. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson, and the committee voted 2 -0 to not object to new liquor permit no. 0340727 for Wine Brew and More located at 26880 Brookpark Road. Councilman Kearney, Chairman of the Finance Committee: The Finance Committee met Tuesday June 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Present were committee members Kearney, Schumann and Barker; Council members Hemann and Limpert; Finance Director Copfer and guests. • Discussed first was Ordinance 2014 -43 which is an Ordinance amending the rates of compensation for various administrative and legislative personnel for the year 2014 to create a part -time Assistant Finance Director position (Section 3A) and to allow non - bargaining employees to sell back up to 40 hours of earned, unused vacation for 2014 only (Section 15); and to otherwise restate the compensation rates and descriptions for various administrative and legislative personnel for the year 2014, and declaring an emergency. This Ordinance allows the current Assistant Finance Director to work part-time until the Fall when she will resign. 2
