Council Minutes of 08 -05 -2014 <br />breathing apparatus (SCBA) with new, state -of -the -art air packs which meet all <br />current applicable fire service standards. They are in the purchasing process and <br />hope to have all packs and associated equipment in service as soon as possible. <br />• Springvale Golf Course July revenue exceeded the projection of $160,000 coming <br />in at $176,700. <br />• The following employees are retiring from the city this year: <br />- Mary Santora — Secretary in various departments - 18 years with the city <br />- Donald Swan — Fire Lt. — 33 years with the city <br />- Ken Hehnen — Fire Lt. — 29 years with the city <br />- Mark Reszegi — Service Department Building Maintenance — 36 years with <br />the city <br />- Karen Laforet — Police secretary — 20 years with the city <br />- Bob Binggeli — Asst. Superintendent at the WWTP — 36 years with the city <br />Thank you to all of them for their service to the City of North Olmsted. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• The Law Dept. has been engaged in two lawsuits filed by a former North Olmsted <br />patrolman, and they have been serving as support for three separate arbitrations. <br />The have also received and are reviewing multiple public records requests. As <br />previously reported, The City of North Olmsted filed a motion for partial <br />judgment on the pleadings in the matter of Bielozer, et al vs. the City of North <br />Olmsted in the United States District Court for the northern district of Ohio. A <br />reply brief is due on August 11, 2014. This was an attempt by North Olmsted's <br />insurance defense counsel to eliminate 3 of 14 separate charges against the City of <br />North Olmsted filed by former officer Bielozer. The Law Dept. received Mr. <br />Bielozer's brief of appellant in the matter of Briand Bielozer vs. the City of North <br />Olmsted Civil Service Commission. The Law Dept. is preparing a brief of <br />appellee that will be filed in the very near future. <br />• The Law Dept. prepared its annual Auditor's request to provide a statement of <br />claims. They worked with the Human Resources Dept. to gather that information <br />to present it to the Auditor. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• The Audit Report and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report were <br />submitted to the Auditor of State's office before June 30, 2014. They were also <br />submitted to the GFOA. <br />• She is in the process of hiring an Assistant Finance Director. She is currently <br />conducting second interviews. <br />Councilman Kearney, Chairman of the Finance Committee: <br />The Finance Committee met Tuesday August 5, 2014 at 7:10 p.m. Present were <br />committee members Kearney, Schumann and Barker; Council President Jones; Council <br />members Brossard Hemann, Limpert and Williamson; Law Director Gareau, Finance <br />Director Copfer, Human Resources Director Farver; Planning /Development Director <br />Wenger and Safety /Service Director Glauner. <br />2 <br />
