MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />OCTOBER 7, 2014 <br />Present: Council President Pro Tempore Brossard, Council Members Barker, <br />Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety /Service Glauner, <br />Planning /Development Director Wenger and Director of Human <br />Resources Farver. <br />Absent: Council President Jones <br />Council President Pro Tempore Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in <br />Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of September 16, 2014 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading — Ordinances 2014 -65 and 2014 -66; First Reading — <br />Resolutions 2014 -72 and 2014 -73. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• He swore in Matthew O'Donnell as a Lieutenant in the North Olmsted Fire Dept. <br />Chief Schepp thanked the Mayor, Council and the Administration for their <br />support. Mayor Kennedy thanked the Fire Dept. employees and the O'Donnell <br />family for attending the Council meeting for the swearing -in. <br />• Trick -or -Treat will be on Halloween, Friday October 31, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. <br />until 8:00 p.m. Some residents have asked that it be moved to Saturday due to the <br />football game. Since the high school game is away, the city has decided to leave <br />it on Friday. <br />• The Foreign Exchange students from Dusseldorf, Germany came to City Hall on <br />September 29, 2014 for a tour of City Hall, the Mayor's Office and the Police <br />Station. <br />• On Monday October 6, 2014, a group from Mrs. Benik's 3rd grade class at Forest <br />came to City Hall to discuss the proposed deer Ordinance with Mayor Kennedy. <br />The children petitioned the Mayor to try and think of another way to solve the <br />city's deer problem without harming the deer. <br />• The North Olmsted community will celebrate its Bicentennial in 2015. The City <br />is partnering with Fat Head's Brewery to kick off a publicity and fundraising <br />campaign. A Bicentennial Launch Party will take place at Fat Head's Brewery on <br />Thursday October 23, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. You may purchase <br />
