CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> JOB TITLE: Permit Clerk <br /> DEPARTMENT: Planning and Development,Building Division <br /> CLASSIFICATION: Non-classified <br /> FLSA STATUS Non-exempt <br /> REVISED DATE June 9,2015 <br /> Purpose of Position: Appointed by the Department Director and working under the <br /> general direction of the Director or the Division Head, the employee is responsible for <br /> providing administrative services to the specified Department/Division. The objective of <br /> this position is to support the work of the Director or Division Head by performing <br /> clerical, scheduling, recording and information retrieval duties plus serving as a liaison <br /> with the public, City officials and those having business with the Department/Division. <br /> The employee is responsible for accuracy of his/her work products involving execution of <br /> various procedures and processes. <br /> Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <br /> • Responsible for commercial plans submitted to the Building Division to insure the <br /> plans are routed to the appropriate departments/divisions and follow through to <br /> issuance of a permit. <br /> • Responsible to correctly process permit requests at the counter. Review to assure <br /> the submittal is complete and issue permits or route to the appropriate reviewer. <br /> • Responsible to correctly answer questions regarding building division codes, <br /> ordinances, etc. <br /> • Responsible to correctly register contractors to ensure that the applicant has <br /> updated insurances and licenses and to enter into Munis. <br /> • Responsible to prepare correspondence for Inspectors. <br /> • Responsible to process daily inspection requests both on the phone and at the <br /> counter. <br /> • Responsible to answer phones promptly. Respond to inquiries and complaints or <br /> direct matters to the appropriate authority for disposition. <br /> • Responsible to process collection of NSF checks. <br /> • Responsible to assist at the Switchboard as assigned. <br /> • Responsible to respond to requests from the Board of Zoning Appeals, Board of <br /> Building Code Appeals, Planning Commission and Landmarks Commission. <br /> • Responsible to perform other duties as assigned by the Secretary One, Building <br /> Commissioner or Assistant Building Commissioner. <br /> • Responsible to process Engineering Division permits, inspections, letters, etc. <br /> • Responsible for properly filing department/division documents. <br /> • Responsible to exercise tact and handle information which is confidential, <br /> sensitive or controversial. <br />
