Council Minutes of 08-18-2015
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane addressed the resignation of Service Dept. Secretary,
Molly Kelly. She is like some of the other good people that have worked at this city at
the ground level — always there, always consistent. Whenever he needed something
regarding garbage pick-up or a burned out lamp post, she always took care of it right
away. She was good at following up and will be a tough person to replace. She is
indicative of the many good people that have worked for this city that are consistently
there all of the time serving the people. It's a shame to see her go. Lambert asked
Councilman Kearney if he is a member of the American Federation of State, County and
Municipal Workers Union. Councilman Kearney replied that he is not. Lambert asked
Mayor Kennedy if the city is starting sewer work on his street. Safety/Service Director
Glauner said they are connecting the two sewers that dead end in that area. There is a
fluctuation of hydraulic pressure on the west side of the street, and the city is connecting
it over to relieve some of that pressure. Lambert said the sewers tip from his end of the
street and go downhill towards Allendale, and they exit off the south end of this
development into the Metroparks. He requested that Glauner check the engineering of
this issue. He asked Glauner if they are enlarging the sewer, and Glauner said not that he
is aware of.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2015-51 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. An
Ordinance accepting a deed from Calvary Baptist Church, Independent, donating land to
the City of North Olmsted. Councilman Schumann moved for adoption. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Ordinance 2015-51 adopted
7-0.
Resolution 2015-52 introduced by Council President Jones on behalf of Mayor Kennedy
was given its second reading. A Resolution approving of and authorizing the Mayor to
enter into a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the American Federation of State,
County and Municipal Employees ("AFSCME"), Ohio Council 8, Local 2681, for the
service unit employees, for the period July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018, and declaring
an emergency. Councilman Kearney made a motion to suspend the rule requiring three
readings as this was discussed in Finance Committee. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Councilman Kearney moved for adoption.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Resolution
2015-52 adopted 7-0.
Resolution 2015-53 introduced by Council President Jones on behalf of Mayor Kennedy
was given its second reading. A Resolution approving of and authorizing the Mayor to
enter into a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the American Federation of State,
County and Municipal Employees ("AFSCME"), Ohio Council 8, Local 2681, for the
clerical and technical employees, for the period July 1, 2015, through June 30, 2018, and
declaring an emergency. Councilman Kearney made a motion to suspend the rule
requiring three readings as this was discussed in Finance Committee.
