Council Minutes of 08-18-2015 <br /> of Chapter Thirteen of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted <br /> entitled "Building Code" and further in order to restate applicable Codes and <br /> eliminate unnecessary provisions for commercial and residential construction. <br /> This legislation will bring the city current to Ohio Building Code standards and <br /> create a situation where the city automatically update to OBC standards as they <br /> are amended. This will save Council time in reviewing and updating new <br /> legislation annually. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of <br /> Ordinance 2015-62. <br /> • Discussed last was Ordinance 2015-63 which is an Ordinance adopting a new <br /> Chapter 1364 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted entitled <br /> "Interior Maintenance Code." This legislation allows the ability for the Building <br /> Dept. to enforce the correction of interior violations. The entrance to interiors is <br /> only allowed under very strict circumstances: the tenant/occupant invites the <br /> inspection, at the owners request or if the situation is dangerous to residents in the <br /> area which will require a search warrant. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend <br /> approval of Ordinance 2015-63 subject to an amendment forthcoming from the <br /> Law Dept. with clarification regarding roommates and boarders. <br /> Councilman Schumann made a motion to amend Ordinance 2015-63. The motion was <br /> seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously. Ordinance 2015-63 amended <br /> 7-0. <br /> Councilman Schumann thanked Director Wenger, Director Gareau and Building <br /> Commissioner Grusenmeyer on their hard work on this legislation. The meeting was <br /> adjourned at 9:15 p.m. <br /> Councilwoman Hemann, Chairwoman of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee: <br /> The Intra-Governmental Committee met Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Present <br /> were committee members Hemann, Limpert and Kearney; Council members Barker, <br /> Brossard, Schumann and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Finance Director Copfer, Human <br /> Resources Director Farver, Planning/Development Director Wenger and guests. <br /> • Discussed was Ordinance 2015-58 which is an Ordinance amending Section <br /> 165.04 ("Duties") of Chapter 165 ("Landmarks Commission") of the <br /> Administrative Code in order to provide authority to the city Landmarks <br /> Commission to establish programs for the recognition and promotion of <br /> historically significant community resources. Director Wenger explained that the <br /> reason for the change was only to permit the Landmarks Commission to have the <br /> ability to create recognition programs for historic properties and significant <br /> community resources. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of <br /> Ordinance 2015-58.
