Council Minutes of 01-05-2016 <br /> Council President Jones, Chairwoman of the Committee of the Whole: <br /> The Committee of the Whole met Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Present were all <br /> members of Council except Councilman Schumann, Mayor Kennedy, Safety and Service <br /> Director Glauner and Law Director Gareau. The purpose of the meeting was to organize <br /> Council into standing committees and make appointments to boards and commissions for <br /> the next two years. In the past, Council committees remain unchanged after at-Large <br /> elections which allows four years for members to serve as committee Chairs, which is the <br /> maximum amount of time allowed under the Rules of Council. Councilman Barker made <br /> a motion to retain the current standing committees. The motion was seconded by <br /> Councilwoman Williamson, and the committee voted 6-0 to retain the standing <br /> committees. <br /> Council President Jones announced all standing committees and their members and <br /> Council appointments to boards and commissions (attached). Councilman Barker made a <br /> motion to approve the standing committees and appointments to boards and commissions. <br /> The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson and passed unanimously. <br /> Standing committees and Council appointments to boards and commissions approved 6- <br /> 0. <br /> Discussed next was a discussion as to which Council member should serve as Council <br /> President Pro-tem for the year 2016. Councilman Barker recommended that Councilman <br /> Kearney serve as the 2016 Pro-tem. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman <br /> Hemann, and the committee voted 6-0 to recommend the approval of Councilman <br /> Kearney as Council President Pro-tern. <br /> Councilman Barker made a motion to approve Councilman Kearney as Council President <br /> Pro-tem for the year 2016. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Hemann and <br /> passed unanimously. Councilman Kearney appointed as Council President Pro-tem for <br /> 2016. <br /> The Committee of the Whole was adjourned at 7:11 p.m. <br /> Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Streets & Transportation Committee: <br /> The Streets & Transportation Committee met Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 7:15 p.m. <br /> Present were committee members Williamson, Hemann and Limpert; Council President <br /> Jones; Council members Barker, Brossard and Kearney; Mayor Kennedy, Law Director <br /> Gareau; Safety and Service Director Glauner and guests: <br /> • Discussed was Resolution 2015-116 which is a Resolution authorizing the Mayor <br /> to enter into an agreement with the City of Westlake to provide for the <br /> improvement of Walter Road from Beech Lane to the Corporation Line, together <br /> with additional cooperative terms and conditions. Director Glauner explained that <br /> the City of Westlake will be in charge of this project and will be handling all <br /> bidding and contracting services. This project will widen Walter Road an <br /> additional two feet with an approximate cost to the City of North Olmsted of <br /> 2 <br />
