MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> APRIL 5, 2016 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br /> Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Finance Copfer, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of <br /> Planning & Development Wenger & Director of Human Resources Farver <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road,North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The Council meeting minutes of March 16, 2016 were approved as written. <br /> The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br /> this evening: Second Reading — Ordinance 2016-26 and Ordinances 2016-31 through <br /> 2016-35; First Reading—Resolution 2016-44. <br /> Council President Jones reviewed the order of the agenda for the audience. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • He swore in new police officer, Matthew Petro. <br /> • He referenced the Butternut School Conversion Project that is before Council for <br /> a vote this evening. He feels this is a very good project. They are moving the bus <br /> garage down the street a quarter of a mile and the buses will be doing the same <br /> thing they are already doing at the high school. This is the school's project, not <br /> the city's project. And, 33,000 residents are paying for this project so it should <br /> run smoothly with no interruption. He is in favor of the project. <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • The 2015 Rocky River Municipal Court Report has been released. Felonies were <br /> up in 2015 with 160 in 2015 and 127 in 2014. Thefts were the most common <br /> felony in both years. Felony drug and instrument possession offenses increased <br /> from 12 in 2014 to 27 in 2015. Perhaps this is an unfortunate sign of the times <br /> both locally and nationally. State Statute Misdemeanors were down from 825 in <br /> 2014 to 739 in 2015. Thefts were again the most common in both years, although <br /> there was a decline in 2015. North Olmsted Codified Ordinance charges <br /> decreased from 97 cases in 2014 to 60 in 2015.
