MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED JUNE 21, 2016 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Law Gareau, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Wenger& Director of Human Resources Farver Absent: Council Member Barker Council Member Brossard Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road,North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The Council meeting minutes of June 7, 2016 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading—Ordinances 2016-65, 2016-66, 2016-67 & 2016-70. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • He introduced Jim Myers, the new Commander of the VFW Post 7647 and read a brief biography about him. Myers introduced himself to Council (letter is attached to these minutes). • The North Olmsted Community Scholarship Race was Saturday June 4, 2016. Both the weather and turnout were great. He thanked all of the sponsors of the race. • The North Olmsted 2016 Boom is scheduled for Sunday, July 3, 2016. • North Olmsted homeowners of houses fifty years or older are eligible for the Heritage Home Program which begins July 1, 2016. The program offers free home repair maintenance and advice, personalized site visits and access to 2% fixed interest financing. To schedule a free visit, contact Heritage Home Program staff at heritagehomeprogram.org. Residents with homes fifty years and older should be receiving a letter in the mail. • On May 9, 2016 Marty Hayes resigned from the Civil Service Commission and will be missed. He has been replaced by Bill Brake, who has served on the Arts Commission. • He thanked Fatheads for their generous contribution to the North Olmsted Food Pantry.
