VFW ' ' <br /> During the VFW's history in North Olmsted we have moved several times and finally reaching <br /> our permanent address on Lorain Road West. Many improvements have been made to our <br /> current location and to the curb appeal for North Olmsted. <br /> We are in the process of improving,for our senior and or disabled veterans,the handicap <br /> entrance and safety exit from the post. We are adding a spacious deck to accommodate guests <br /> and possibly increase our membership with younger returning home veterans. <br /> Part of our past history with the community includes the year of the levy when the VFW helped <br /> to save the football program <br /> We have always properly and with respect taken used or discarded American Flags and retired <br /> them with honor <br /> The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are held in high esteem, mentored and given guidance in Eagle <br /> Scout Projects and support when needed <br /> The North Olmsted High School and other educational programs support the VFW and our <br /> soldiers with their participation in Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen programs sponsored by <br /> the VFW. Who can overlook the art program and the talented students along with their <br /> teachers <br /> North Olmsted has several parades each year where the VFW has the honor to carry the colors <br /> that mean so much to us all. It is a true honor for us to hold on to those rights that so many <br /> gave their lives for. Also the flag raisings at the North Olmsted High School football games <br /> We hope to continue to be a major part of the Homecoming and look to another successful <br /> event this year <br /> We honor the Police Officer and Fireman/Paramedic at a ceremony in November each year <br /> with North Olmsted having a State of Ohio VFW winner 3 years ago <br /> Veterans Day at North Olmsted High School is a huge pat on the back for our Combat Veterans <br /> living in the community <br /> Last but not least we are Veterans Helping Veterans until the last honors are presented at grave <br /> side with the presentation of Colors, a rifle salute and the playing of taps. <br /> Did I mention that we are not just another bar down the street, we are combat veterans with a <br /> sincere desire to preserve freedom, honor and the rights of every citizen <br /> VFW Post 7647 Cmdr. <br /> VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES <br />
