MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br /> SEPTEMBER 6,2016 <br /> Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br /> Kearney, Limpert, Schumann& Williamson <br /> Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Law Gareau, <br /> Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner & Director <br /> of Human Resources Farver <br /> Absent: Director of Planning & Development Wenger <br /> Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br /> 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br /> Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance. <br /> The Council meeting minutes of August 16, 2016 were approved as written. <br /> The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br /> this evening: Second Reading — Resolution 2016-80, Resolution 2016-81 & Ordinance <br /> 216-82; First Reading—Resolution 2016-83 & Resolution 2016-84. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Mayor Kennedy: <br /> • The agreement to commence construction at Pine School property has been <br /> signed by the City of North Olmsted and the schools. <br /> • The North Olmsted 9/11 Memorial Service is this Sunday, September 11, 2016 <br /> from 9:45 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the North Olmsted Fire Station No. 1. The <br /> North Olmsted safety forces will have a memorial service for the firefighters, <br /> EMS workers, police officers, and citizens who died in the terrorist attacks on <br /> September 11, 2001as well as the soldiers who have died since. The memorial <br /> service is open to the public. <br /> • At the Recreation Center, there is a free "Back to School" event this Saturday, <br /> September 10, 2016. There will be games, raffles, a bounce house, DJ and hot <br /> dogs outside the Recreation Center from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Free skating <br /> and swimming will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • The matter of Fatmeh Silmi vs. The City of North Olmsted has been resolved <br /> through mediation. This was a common pleas case that involved a woman that <br /> was injured at the North Olmsted Recreation Center during construction. The <br /> contractors paid $45,000 and the City paid $15,000. <br />
