MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED SEPTEMBER 6,2016 Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann& Williamson Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Law Gareau, Clerk of Council Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner & Director of Human Resources Farver Absent: Director of Planning & Development Wenger Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The Council meeting minutes of August 16, 2016 were approved as written. The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules this evening: Second Reading — Resolution 2016-80, Resolution 2016-81 & Ordinance 216-82; First Reading—Resolution 2016-83 & Resolution 2016-84. REPORTS Mayor Kennedy: • The agreement to commence construction at Pine School property has been signed by the City of North Olmsted and the schools. • The North Olmsted 9/11 Memorial Service is this Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 9:45 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the North Olmsted Fire Station No. 1. The North Olmsted safety forces will have a memorial service for the firefighters, EMS workers, police officers, and citizens who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001as well as the soldiers who have died since. The memorial service is open to the public. • At the Recreation Center, there is a free "Back to School" event this Saturday, September 10, 2016. There will be games, raffles, a bounce house, DJ and hot dogs outside the Recreation Center from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Free skating and swimming will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Director of Law Gareau: • The matter of Fatmeh Silmi vs. The City of North Olmsted has been resolved through mediation. This was a common pleas case that involved a woman that was injured at the North Olmsted Recreation Center during construction. The contractors paid $45,000 and the City paid $15,000.
