CCBH 2016 SEMI-ANNUAL REPORT City of North Olmsted Page 12
FOOD PROTECTION
The Food Protection programs are an integration of food safety education,
inspections, consultations, disease prevention, surveillance, food defense (preventing
intentional contamination of food) and educational offerings. The emerging disease
events and persistent food allergies in our jurisdiction have also led to an increased
response to food recalls and numerous consumer food safety education sessions in
grocery stores, civic meetings and various public events. This unit responds to
customer complaints, illness investigations and public health nuisances about food to
prevent biological, chemical and physical contamination of food. Food inspections
can be viewed on-line by visiting the CCBH website.
Prog ram] nquiries. and Respanses.(in hours)* ................... 1,005
Illness.lnvestigabons/Disease Surveillance .........................4
Inspections, Reinspections and.Complaints ......................360
Plans Reviewed.............................................14
Food.
